Regional Laboratory Medicine belongs to Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 4, and has a clear coordination mandate for the entire Region of Västra Götaland. The organization consists of the laboratory medicine operations at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Hospitals in the West, and NU Hospital Group.

Description

We are looking for an employee for the Pediatric Blood Collection unit at Östra Hospital. The position is shared with the adult blood collection unit at the same hospital, meaning you will work a few days a week at each location.

The clinical area of Clinical Chemistry, of which blood collection is a part, is an environmentally certified and accredited laboratory. We at the blood collection unit place great value on quality and being the best at blood collection and pre-analysis!

Job Responsibilities

At the pediatric blood collection unit, we primarily perform capillary and venous blood collection, as well as sweat tests. We also offer needle training for children who are afraid of needles/syringes. We also visit units at the children's hospital and health centers to teach about pediatric blood collection.

At the adult blood collection unit, we handle a higher volume of patients. We take venous and capillary samples and perform supervised urine collection.

Together, we provide the best possible service to our patients!

We work weekdays from 07:00 to 15:45. Since we have many patients in the morning, it is necessary that you can start at 07:00 every day.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a cheerful, confident, and flexible person who enjoys making the patient's care experience a little better!

The job requires good interaction and communication skills as you will have extensive contact internally with various care units and with patients. This means you need to speak fluent Swedish and be proficient in writing texts in Swedish.

You need to have good judgment and be able to independently take responsibility for tasks.

Other requirements are that you have good and documented experience of both capillary and venous blood collection in children and good familiarity with sample handling.
