We are looking for a Design Manager specializing in electrical power and BEST-MK for a traffic authority.

This is a consulting assignment. The location is Stockholm.

The position is at 75% of full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

As Design Manager, you are responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating the design work for electrical power and BEST-MK across several parallel projects. The role involves ensuring progress, quality, coordination, and constructability in the design process, as well as driving technical and strategic issues through the design, production, and handover phases. You act as the client's representative in design matters and ensure that the design results form the basis for procurement, implementation, and operation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design work for electrical power and BEST-MK in several parallel assignments.
• Create, follow up on, and control design schedules, deliveries, and milestones.
• Lead design meetings and ensure progress and decisions on technical issues.
• Ensure that the design meets requirements, guidelines, and standards, and follow up on requirement management.
• Be responsible for quality assurance of system documents, tender documents, construction documents, and relation documents, as well as handling reviews and comments.
• Coordinate design between technical disciplines and ensure interfaces with adjacent projects, operation, and production.
• Drive a holistic perspective to ensure technically feasible and long-term sustainable solutions.
• Monitor design costs, resources, and forecasts, as well as handle risks and deviations.
• Report status, progress, and decision needs to the Project Manager.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical documents and tender documents, and participate in bid evaluations and technical assessments.
• Support production with technical questions, ensure constructability, and prepare and coordinate technical reports and solutions during the contract period.
• Ensure that operation requirements are considered in the design and drive the work with handing over operation documents.

Requirements (OBS, mandatory)

• You must have a Master of Science degree in engineering or equivalent technical competence acquired through work experience of at least 10 years.
• You must have at least nine (9) years of documented experience in design within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects. Of this total experience, at least three (3) years must have been in the role of Technical Manager (TA), Project Manager, or a corresponding coordinating and technically leading role within a design organization.
• You must have documented experience from at least one (1) project within rail-bound traffic where the consultant had the role of Design Manager or a corresponding responsible function in track infrastructure with ongoing traffic. The experience must cover planning, coordination, and implementation of design with requirements to minimize traffic impact and ensure the work was carried out without unplanned service disruptions.
• You must have at least three (3) years of documented experience in the role of Design Manager or Project Manager with overall responsibility for the preparation of system documents within projects for rail-bound traffic. The experience must cover coordination and leadership of at least eight (8) technical disciplines and responsibility for both technical documents and administrative documents.
• You must have at least two (2) years of documented experience in the role of Design Manager or Project Manager with overall responsibility for the preparation of tender documents within projects for rail-bound traffic. The experience must cover coordination and leadership of at least eight (8) technical disciplines and responsibility for both technical documents and administrative regulations and documents.
• Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.

Merits

• You are certified as a project manager within IPMA/PPS/PMP.
• You have at least two (2) years of documented experience in administrative management and follow-up of consulting assignments according to ABK 09, including handling of time, economy, deliveries, and change management.
• You have at least 3 years of experience working in a client organization within infrastructure or public transport.
