Landscape Engineer for Parks and Streets Department in Danderyd Municipality

Welcome to the Parks and Streets Department within the Community Development Administration. We are responsible for Danderyd's public living rooms, where we work daily to ensure that residents have accessible and traffic-safe roads, pedestrian and cycle paths, and that public spaces are safe, clean, and well-maintained. We maintain and develop our green environments, which serve as shared activity rooms for recreation and movement, where we care for the municipality's nature areas, parks, and lakes.

The Community Development Administration is located in Mörby Centrum, 14 minutes from the T-Centralen metro station. Here, we are approximately 70 employees who ensure daily life runs smoothly for everyone who lives, works, and operates in Danderyd Municipality.

Job Description

As a Landscape Engineer, you will work broadly with both operational maintenance and strategic development of the municipality's parks, playgrounds, and green structures in street environments. The role combines responsibility for daily case management with long-term planning and project management. You will be a key person within the administration and work in close collaboration with colleagues internally within the Parks and Streets Department, such as landscape architects, as well as with external contractors.

In the role of Landscape Engineer, you are responsible for the maintenance of playgrounds and participate in the creation and development of playground programs and long-term playground planning. You will handle error reports and cases within the park and green areas as well as playgrounds, for example, questions regarding cleaning, mowing, and upkeep. In this role, you act as the client towards contractors and work on following up maintenance contracts while maintaining ongoing contact with contractors. You will also participate in planning the maintenance of park land and greenery in street environments.

As a Landscape Engineer, you will lead both operational and investment projects in park and street environments, which involves collaboration with, for example, landscape architects in the planning and implementation of projects. You work actively with GIS related to the municipality's operational areas and are involved in building structures, shapefiles, and storage areas as part of system development. In the role, you will process cases, prepare materials, write service reports, and participate in political preparations. You communicate with several stakeholders such as elected officials, residents, contractors, and internal municipal operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree as a Landscape Engineer or another relevant education that the employer deems equivalent, preferably with a focus on nature conservation, gardening, or landscape.
• Work experience in maintenance and upkeep in park and street environments as a contractor, consultant, or client.
• Very good ability to communicate both orally and in writing in Swedish, given that the work involves many internal and external contacts.
• Good familiarity with working in administrative systems and digital tools such as Office 365.
• A valid B-class driver's license.

It is meritorious if you have experience with:

• Work with follow-up of maintenance contracts within parks and nature areas.
• Working in project form, both as a project manager and in other roles.
• Political processes, preparations, and service reports.
• Maintenance of historical facilities and/or cultural and nature reserves.

It is also meritorious if you have several years of current experience in public procurement as well as experience with GIS in the form of system building and geo-databases.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to development and progress, as well as an interest in GIS related to system building and management of geo-data. To succeed in the role of Landscape Engineer, you have the ability to handle many parallel cases in an efficient and non-hierarchical manner. You have good teamwork skills and are service-oriented with clear communication in meetings with different stakeholders. You have a good ability to adapt your message to the recipient and situation, as well as an easy ability to build new relationships. Furthermore, you are self-starting and structured by being able to plan and prioritize your work even when conditions change rapidly. You complete your tasks and have a solution-focused approach by quickly finding solutions to emerging problems, where you are receptive to colleagues, residents, and contractors. Personal suitability is highly valued.
