About the Department

The Environmental and Community Planning Administration works to develop a sustainable and growing Karlskrona with new housing and business establishments, attractive environments, and well-functioning operations from an environmental and health perspective. The administration consists of approximately 60 employees in total.

On the Environmental Division, environmental inspectors, environmental case handlers, administrators, municipal ecologists, unit managers, and environmental managers work together. Here we work with environmental supervision, food control, nature protection, sewage supervision, health protection supervision, and more. This is to create safe, sustainable, and healthy living environments in Karlskrona and provide the best possible service to our businesses and residents in the municipality. Our work focuses on sustainability, attractiveness, and growth to contribute to a positive development in Karlskrona Municipality.

Responsibilities

Your task is to contribute to the protection of people's health by planning and conducting supervision and providing guidance within the field of health protection, for example, tobacco supervision, housing supervision, and hygienic operations. We would appreciate it if you have experience handling cases regarding indoor environment (ventilation, moisture and mold, radon) as well as noise.

The role of an environmental inspector also includes making decisions in authority cases, responding to consultations, and performing other case handling related to legislation. You will also prepare proposals for decisions and serve as the presenter in the Environmental and Community Planning Committee. The role involves working in a service-oriented manner where qualities such as clarity, flexibility, and integrity are valued.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as an environmental inspector, have a university degree in the field, or other education that the employer deems equivalent and suitable. You must have a driver's license for a passenger car.

You should have good knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations as well as good computer skills. We expect you to convey information clearly and simply, both orally and in writing. You listen effectively; you strive first to understand and then to be understood. You keep others informed, give specific and constructive feedback, and handle questions and problems directly and openly rather than later in other contexts.

It is an advantage if you have experience with EDP Vision and experience working with supervision in the field of health protection.
