About the Workplace

The Swedish Police Authority is the sector responsible agency for the preparedness sector Order and Security within Sweden's civil defense. In light of the deteriorating security situation over time and the requirements for increased capability within the civil part of total defense, the Police have decided to implement projects to strengthen their robustness and ensure their capability across the entire threat spectrum. Development is needed within several socially critical branches of activity, including property development, technical infrastructure development, as well as capability development and strategic business analysis. The work involves significant economic and operational value and is expected to last for at least a decade.

An employment implies an organizational placement at the Economics Department, where the project is based. The Economics Department has national responsibility for, among other things, the agency's business and economic management, premises supply, as well as purchasing and procurement activities.

About the Position

Do you want to work to expand the Police's cutting-edge capabilities through major property projects and strategic capability development? Then you might be the person we need to assist the program leadership in the agency's perhaps largest investment ever. We are looking for an assistant to the program leader for business development. This is a role for you who thrives in complex business and property development projects, is quick-thinking, and enjoys both developing and being developed.

Job Description

The program leadership consists of a team focused on achieving strategic capability development, primarily through property development and improved infrastructure. As an assistant program leader, you will support the program leader for business development. Together, the program leaders and their assistants form a cohesive team that distributes responsibilities and tasks among themselves, but works together towards a common whole and goal picture.

You will work in close collaboration with other agencies, other parts within the project, and other parts within the Swedish Police Authority. The program contains a number of sub-projects of varying size and complexity. Your role is to, together with the program leader, ensure the program's progress and goal fulfillment by coordinating and steering the sub-projects' deliveries, mitigating risks, and preparing and presenting strategic decision-making materials for project owners and agency management.

You do not have personnel responsibility, but may lead sub-project managers in the role.

Examples of areas of responsibility:

  • Support the program leader in structuring, driving, and reporting the development of sub-projects in a structured and transparent manner.
  • Follow up on sub-projects and ensure that deliveries occur coordinated towards a common goal.
  • Together with the program leadership, ensure that internal processes and routines for the project are in place and suitable for efficient project work.
  • Analyze and evaluate large amounts of information and compile the results into various materials for strategic decisions, tactical choices, and operational implementation.

The tasks require a significant amount of on-site presence at one of our two project offices.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • An academic degree as a civil engineer, economist, or lawyer, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in leadership within a field that the employer deems relevant, such as manager or project manager.
  • Relevant and current experience of successfully leading and driving change and development work at a strategic level.
  • Very good knowledge of Office programs, including Project and Visio.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

The position requires Swedish citizenship.

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience in independently conducting strategic analysis and compiling results into reports and decision-making materials for corporate or agency management.
  • Experience in independently developing robust structures within total defense and civil protection.
  • Experience in contributing to the development of a more efficient public administration through agency governance or inter-agency cooperation.
