Your responsibilities

As a group manager, you will lead a group of eight development engineers who are also project managers, responsible for, among other things, planning and development projects, process development projects, and collaboration projects. You are responsible for personnel and operational matters by, among other things, planning and ensuring the progress of operations, conducting employee and salary interviews, and monitoring operations. The unit manager has economic responsibility, but as a group manager, you work in close collaboration with the unit manager and the unit's other group manager, both regarding the unit's economy and other operational development.

You work closely with your group, act as a sounding board, and provide guidance in the daily work with urban planning's land and development issues. You lead the group through coaching, engagement, and good expertise in land and development. Together with the other group managers on the detailed planning unit, you work to coordinate and lead our joint planning and development projects where a strong customer focus gives the people of Linköping the best of the city!

As a group manager on the Urban Planning Department, you get to help shape the development of Linköping Municipality! Linköping is one of Sweden's fastest-growing municipalities with many exciting projects underway, both densification projects in the inner city and completely new residential and business areas in the suburbs and the municipality in general. Right now, we are in an exciting phase where we are developing and strengthening our department so that we are ready for the Linköping of the future!

At the Land and Development Unit, we are 21 engaged employees, including 14 project managers and development engineers, who drive long-term projects and leave their mark on urban development. We work with projects in different stages, sizes, and characteristics, which creates a dynamic and developing work environment. Here there is an opportunity to focus on what you are passionate about and skilled in, while there is room to develop and broaden your competence.

We are part of the Urban Planning Department, whose task is to work with master plans and detailed plans that control the use of land and water and the design of the built environment. The department is also responsible for the municipality's land supply and development as well as project management of the municipality's development. Approximately 65 employees work at the department, divided into three units; the strategic planning unit, detailed planning, and land and development. We work with urban planning issues on behalf of the Urban Planning Board and the Municipal Executive Board.

You who apply

We are looking for you who have a university education in surveying, urban planning, or another education that we can assess as equivalent. To succeed in the assignment, you have experience in development issues in municipal management and good knowledge of contract law, property law, and property economics. Previous managerial experience or other supervisory function is considered meritorious.

As a group manager, you set the direction in daily work and therefore need to be able to create engagement and involvement through your own attitude towards the assignment. You are a natural leader who creates engagement and involvement, a person who naturally leads and motivates your employees. Your attitude is characterized by development orientation; you are goal- and result-oriented and have good self-awareness and dare to show courage in difficult situations. In this position, it is important that you dare to take initiative and drive processes forward. You can make new decisions and change direction when required without being bound by hierarchy. You are a relationship-building person who has an easy time creating contacts and maintaining good relationships; a high degree of cooperation and sensitivity are also important qualities to succeed in the role. You are used to working with complex questions and materials; you analyze and can present development proposals that create value for your operations. The role also requires good prioritization skills, good order and structure, and very good communication skills in Swedish, both oral and written.

In this recruitment, we use personality and problem-solving tests as part of our assessment. Selection takes place in week 33 and the interviews are planned to be conducted in weeks 34-35.
