Lead Security Engineer – Hiring on behalf of our client

We are hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced and hands-on Lead Security Engineer for an exciting assignment. This is a key role for you who want to combine technical security work with leadership and have a direct impact on how security is built into modern software development.

About the role

As a Lead Security Engineer, you are responsible for defining and leading the implementation of security policies, tools, and technologies that protect the company's data and infrastructure. You are a technical expert who not only sets the direction but also contributes actively to the code, removes security bottlenecks, and creates scalable solutions that the development team can use directly.

The role acts as a bridge between security and technology, requiring you to be equally comfortable in the codebase as in strategic discussions.

Your responsibilities

• Develop, test, and refine incident response playbooks, including automation and scripting
• Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans
• Collaborate with development teams and contribute with code, templates, and reusable components
• Drive automation initiatives with hands-on scripting and tooling
• Ensure compliance with standards such as GDPR and ISO
• Conduct penetration tests and contribute with remediation actions
• Mentor colleagues through pair programming and code reviews

We are looking for someone who has:

• Extensive knowledge of security frameworks and compliance
• Strong experience in incident response and vulnerability management
• Knowledge of encryption and IAM
• Hands-on coding experience in Python and/or Bash
• Experience with security tools and building them out
• Good communication skills and analytical mindset
