At Xamera, we are looking for a curious and hands-on mechanical engineering student who wants to work as a summer employee at a leading technology company in the nuclear power industry. Here, you will combine tinkering in a laboratory environment with advanced testing of fuel for nuclear reactors, working alongside a small, experienced team where safety, precision, and problem-solving are at the core.

About the Company The company is a technology firm within the nuclear power industry specializing in advanced testing and development of fuel for nuclear reactors. This role combines practical engineering work in a laboratory setting with high technical expertise in mechanics, electricity, and measurement technology. On the thermohydraulic lab team, a small, cohesive group focuses on significant responsibility, safety, and long-term machine knowledge. As a summer employee, you will become part of a specialized area where your contributions directly support safe and efficient nuclear power plants.

About the Role As a summer worker in the thermohydraulic lab, you will join a team of five people conducting tests and trials on fuel for PWR, BWR, and VVER reactors. This role is ideal for you if you want to combine practical laboratory work with technical thinking and problem-solving.

You will:

• Work both practically and theoretically as a technician/engineer in the lab
• Participate in equipment maintenance, such as pumps and valves
• Be involved in the assembly of test objects
• Contribute to the design and adaptation of components for test equipment
• Assist in the execution of tests and trial runs

In addition to daily tasks, you will gain insight into how test results are utilized, including fuel calculations and the development of new or improved fuel. The position requires daily on-site presence in the lab.

Requirements

• Currently studying for a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2nd year).
• Have practical experience or a clear interest in mechanical work (e.g., tinkering, screwing, building, hobby projects, workshop, lab, or industry).
• Fluent in Swedish (written and spoken).
• Good proficiency in English.
• Are meticulous, responsible, and comfortable following procedures and safety requirements.

You either already possess good machine knowledge or have a strong interest in building it over time, and you see the value in remembering experiences from previous runs and tests. While you enjoy the practical side, you can also absorb technical documentation and theory when needed.

Practical Details

Location: Stockholm

Employment Type: Consultant employment via Xamera for 3 months.

Period: Summer job 2026, primarily during June and August when regular staff is present. In July, operations are largely closed due to vacations, but if it suits both you and the team, you can work for a week then as well.

Presence: The position requires physical presence on-site every working day.

Safety: Security clearance will be conducted as part of the recruitment process.
