About the role

Do you want to play a central role in strengthening the organization's ability to deliver complex and socially important projects? As a Portfolio Manager, you will hold a key position where you are responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and developing the governance of our project portfolio.

We are facing investment needs and a multitude of projects with varying levels of maturity. To meet this challenge, we need a function that ensures a holistic view, prioritization, and structure, while providing project managers with the right support to deliver efficiently. This is a new role in the organization, offering significant opportunities to influence working methods, quality, and long-term development.

The assignment

As Portfolio Manager, you are responsible for creating structure, transparency, and governance across the entire project portfolio – from idea to implementation and closure. You lead portfolio processes, drive investment planning, and ensure that the organization has the right decision-making basis and resource overview to make well-founded decisions.

You have a central role with many contact points and act as a cohesive link between projects, technology, operations, finance, and management.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drive and coordinate the project portfolio with a focus on the big picture, prioritization, and monitoring
• Lead portfolio meetings and prepare decision-making materials for management and steering groups
• Be responsible for investment planning and forecasts in close collaboration with finance
• Coordinate resources and capacity between internal and external actors

You are also responsible for developing and managing the project model, as well as supporting project managers in structure, planning, and risk management. You contribute to good coordination between different parts of the business and to quality in procurement processes together with project managers and procurement specialists.

About the department

The position is located within the Project Department, which consists of 14 employees. Here, you work closely with project managers, technical specialists, operations, and finance in a business with several parallel investment projects. We are located in newly renovated offices on the campus area in Norrtälje.

What you need to bring

Requirements

• Experience in project management, portfolio management, or program management
• Experience working in project-intensive organizations with many stakeholders
• Experience in resource planning, budgeting, procurement, and financial monitoring
• Very strong communication skills – you can make complex information easy to understand
• Good understanding of systems within portfolio and monitoring tools
• Understanding of water and wastewater (VA) and waste-related investment projects, contracting forms, and project methodology

Merits

• Beneficial background within water/wastewater, waste, urban planning, technical infrastructure, or municipal operations
• Beneficial experience with introducing or managing project models
