Are you an engaged and responsible driver who wants to contribute to a sustainable future? Are you the right person for a new team in the new packaging collection department? SSAM is looking for environmental workers with a Category C driving license and YKB (Professional Competence Certificate) starting summer 2026.
About SSAM:
SSAM has a clear vision – a Småland without waste. With a focus on sustainability, environmental protection, and resource efficiency, they drive their work forward using their core values: Joy, Respect, Forward-looking Spirit, Sustainability, and Togetherness. These permeate both the work environment and the relationship with customers and society.
What is FNI?
FNI (Property-proximate collection) means that all households and multi-family buildings should be able to have residual waste, food waste, newspapers, plastic packaging, paper packaging, metal packaging, clear glass packaging, and colored glass packaging collected at the property boundary or in close proximity to it.
How does this collection differ from the current collection?
SSAM currently collects residual and food waste from single-family homes, multi-family buildings, and businesses. What distinguishes the FNI collection type is that packaging waste will also be collected from multi-family buildings, which involves different vehicle types and different waste streams.
As a refuse collector for SSAM, you are a key person in their work for a sustainable and cleaner environment. You contribute every day to ensuring our municipalities function smoothly and that we collectively achieve our environmental goals.
In your role, you will primarily:
- Collect and transport packaging from both multi-family buildings and businesses within Älmhult Municipality and Markaryd Municipality, according to established routes and schedules. The work is based out of Älmhult.
- Ensure high quality and service by handling waste in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with current procedures and environmental requirements.
- Meet customers in a friendly and professional manner, acting as an important ambassador for SSAM and contributing to a positive experience for those you encounter in your role.
- Report deviations and follow safety regulations to create a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- As part of the new team, your work is crucial for maintaining good service for the municipalities' residents while simultaneously protecting the environment for future generations.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for you who:
- Are responsible, service-oriented, and flexible.
- Have a positive attitude and thrive working both independently and in a team.
- Have good physical fitness, as the work is physically demanding.
Requirements:
- Minimum Category C driving license
- Digital tachograph card
- Valid YKB (Professional Competence Certificate)
- Swedish language skills (spoken and written)
Merits:
- Experience in waste management or similar service professions
- Category CE driving license
- Computer literacy
The work is scheduled during daytime hours with some on-call availability for work on weekends and public holidays.
