Do you want to be part of developing high-tech solutions where safety and reliability are at the center? Now is the opportunity to step into the role of Systems Safety Engineer within the defense industry – an expanding operation working with advanced and technically complex systems.

In this role, you contribute to the further development of the technology behind modern missile systems and are involved throughout the entire journey, from early requirement specifications to finished and verified delivery. You will become part of a competent and technology-driven team with well-established working methods, strong knowledge sharing, and good opportunities for development through mentorship. The position can be based in Karlstad or Karlskoga.

About the Role

As a Systems Safety Engineer, you are responsible for work related to system and product safety in the development of advanced defense systems, with a focus on missile technology. The work spans the entire development cycle and is based on requirements from customers, legislation, and other stakeholders.

You work with the team to develop, structure, and manage safety requirements, conduct risk identification and risk analyses, and ensure that measures are documented, implemented, and followed up. The role involves participation in design work, technical analyses, tests, and verifications to ensure that the systems meet all requirements from a systems safety perspective.

You collaborate closely with those responsible for subsystems and components and are part of cross-functional project teams, including system engineers, test managers, and specialists in software, mechanics, electronics, and strength.

The work involves handling several parallel assignments with varying complexity, where a structured approach according to established processes is central. At the start, you will receive a thoughtful introduction to the role and be assigned an experienced mentor to support you in both the technical work and your long-term development.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in technology and thrive in environments where complex systems, precision, and safety are crucial factors. You work methodically, take responsibility for your work, and have a desire to understand both details and the whole picture. You appreciate working long-term and following a product through the entire development process – from requirements to verified solution. As a person, you are flexible, solution-focused, and have an easy time collaborating in a group. You are comfortable asking for support and taking in feedback from more experienced colleagues. The ability to identify risks, see connections, and make well-considered technical assessments is important for success in the role.

Requirements for the position:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Development, or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in technical development with requirements setting, or equivalent background through thesis, trainee, or junior role
  • Basic experience with, or a pronounced interest in, system and/or product safety
  • Ability and interest to work through the entire development chain – from requirements to verification
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Merits for the position:

  • Experience from thesis or projects involving systems safety or product development
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as MIL-STD 882E or equivalent regulations
  • Background from the defense industry, automotive industry, or other regulated and technology-intensive operations
  • Experience working in cross-functional and/or project-oriented teams

A security clearance and security interview will be conducted prior to employment in accordance with current regulations for security protection.
