Technician, Consultation – Focus on Sewing and Customization

Job Description

As a Technician in Consultation, you will join the consultation team where you will collaborate with assistive device consultants and technicians. You will contribute with your competence and technical knowledge. You will work both independently and together with colleagues and prescribers on customizations, adaptations, corrective maintenance, procurement work, documentation, and other tasks. In your role, you will work extensively with sewing, textiles, and various materials such as wood, plastic, and foam plastics to create cushions, gloves, and padding for various assistive devices. The position also includes administrative work, which is performed in connection with the customization of assistive devices and trials.

You will usually work on-site at our own center in Borås, but travel to and work at one of our other assistive device centers in the region (Mölndal, Skövde, and Uddevalla) may occur. Home visits together with prescribers and/or consultants may also be relevant.

To perform customizations, an approved education as a customizer is required. This education can be obtained internally at the Assistive Device Center.

Competence Requirements

To provide good service in the role of a technician in sewing, you need to:

• Have a good attitude and be service-oriented
• Work well with others
• Enjoy adapting to what is happening
• Be responsible and thorough to ensure quality and high safety

The position requires good knowledge of sewing and experience in handling various materials, as well as familiarity with industrial sewing machines. Furthermore, you must have a completed high school diploma and further education in clothing technology, upholstery, or orthopedic technology, or other education deemed equivalent.

You communicate fluently in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and have good computer skills as well as experience working in various IT systems. You must have a B-class driver's license and good driving experience.

If you have experience with assistive device technology, healthcare, assistive devices, or the Sesam business system, we consider this an asset. We also prefer that you have experience with other types of workshop machines such as band saws, etc., and that you enjoy working with tools.

About the Assistive Device Center

The Assistive Device Center belongs to the Supply Administration within the Västra Götaland Region and is a competence and logistics center for the 49 municipalities, as well as the Västra Götaland Region's own operations. We are located in Borås, Mölndal, Skövde, and Uddevalla.

Our service offering is based on healthcare providers' needs for both in-depth knowledge in the field of assistive devices and various service services to support the care chain. We handle purchasing, warehousing, distribution, as well as service and maintenance of assistive device articles. We also help prescribers with, among other things, assistive device counseling, individual trials, adaptations/customizations, as well as study visits and training.

The position is a permanent employment with placement at the Assistive Device Center in Borås.
