Librarian to Hudiksvall Library

Hudiksvall Library is a vibrant meeting place where culture and knowledge are at the center. Here, we lend out over a million books every year through our libraries and offer a wide range of program activities for children, young people, and adults. We are part of the Culture and Leisure Administration and actively work to make the library accessible and welcoming to everyone. Our work environment is characterized by collaboration, development, and engagement.

We are now looking for a new colleague at Hudiksvall Library with a focus on the Mobile Library!

As a librarian with us, you will work together with several librarians and your immediate supervisor at the main library in the Culture House, centrally located in Hudiksvall at the Town Hall Park next to the Hälsingland Museum. Here you will find proximity to restaurants, shops, and good transport connections in an inspiring environment where the library is a cultural hub. At the Mobile Library, you are one of our most important ambassadors outside the library building. With the Mobile Library's outreach activities, you meet people where they are - in the countryside, at various meeting places, and in the daily life of the local community.

Job Responsibilities

The Mobile Library is a flexible and well-equipped meeting place that promotes the joy of reading and accessibility for all ages - where they are. Together with the Mobile Library driver, you will visit schools, preschools, and drive to places where it is far to a regular library. The position also includes customary librarian tasks at Hudiksvall Library as well as the outreach activity "The Book Comes" (Boken kommer).

As a librarian with us, you will:

  • Work at the information desk with a focus on information and reference work.
  • Provide literature guidance and conduct reading promotion work for various target groups.
  • Handle media acquisitions and collection development.
  • Participate in operational development both locally and regionally.
  • Market the library's services and programs.
  • Plan and conduct programs for children, young people, and adults.
  • Work in digital environments and support users pedagogically.
  • Be involved in competence development and environmental scanning.
  • Staff the Mobile Library.

The position includes evening and weekend shifts.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An academic degree in library and information science or other adequate education.
  • Good ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Merits include:

  • Experience of librarian work.
  • Experience with digital tools.
  • Experience of work targeted at children and young people.

To thrive in the role, you are pedagogical and enjoy speaking in front of groups. You work independently with great drive while collaborating well in a team. You are structured, flexible, and stress-tolerant. Your good knowledge of literature and strong service mindset ensure that you always put the needs of the borrowers first.

We attach great importance to personal suitability. The position requires a criminal record check.

We look forward to welcoming you to the team. Welcome with your application!
