Piteå Parish stretches from forest landscapes to vast archipelagos. A parish with nearly 20,000 members and over 55 employees. The parish includes five churches, two of which are cooperative churches with EFS, five chapels, and eight cemeteries, five of which are active. About the Burial Operations

Piteå Parish is the principal for burial operations in the parish area. This means that we are responsible for providing and maintaining cemeteries - regardless of faith or worldview. The assignment is both practical and regulatory with requirements for legal security, documentation, and accessibility.

The burial operations are a community-critical task where quality, respect, and responsibility are at the center. We strive for a holistic view - from administration to burial and maintenance - and continuously develop our working methods to meet changing traditions and increasing demands.

About the Position

As the cemetery manager, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the parish's cemeteries.

You will lead a team of dedicated employees and plan and implement maintenance and development projects. The role also includes ensuring that the burial operations – which are a state assignment – are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines from both the state and the Church of Sweden.

You will play an important role in creating a safe and dignified environment for visitors and employees, focusing on quality, service, and sustainability. The position reports directly to the parish priest and participates in the management team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the operations and staff group at the cemetery.
  • Be responsible for regulatory functions within the burial operations.
  • Plan and follow up on budgets, resources, and work plans.
  • Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of graves, facilities, and green areas.
  • Collaborate internally within the parish, with other parishes, and external contractors.
  • Drive projects for improved service and sustainability.
  • Personnel responsibility including work environment, safety, recruitment, employee conversations, and professional development.
  • Be responsible for planning and developing the operations' crisis and preparedness work.

Qualifications

  • Experience in leadership, preferably within cemetery management or parks.
  • Basic legal competence, preferably related to burial operations.
  • Good administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions.
  • Self-driven and proactive.
  • Stable and secure in your role.
  • Good communication skills, good Swedish in speech and writing for example in applications, follow-ups, and reports.
  • You master basic functions in Microsoft 365 and can work independently in common IT environments.
  • A driver's license for a passenger car is required, as well as access to your own car.
  • A good team player with the ability to create trust and good collaboration.

Meritorious:

  • Experience with budget and financial responsibility.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in regulatory functions.
  • Experience in burial operations.
