Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a prison guard, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied and include care, surveillance, searches, and security work, combined with release planning, conversations, and motivational work. Work at the detention center is often routine-driven and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may sometimes be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than the staff at the detention center, which places special demands on your ability to create structure, security, and a respectful approach in everyday life.

Working as a prison guard means that you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. You will start your employment at the workplace with an introduction in week 23 and you are expected to be able to work throughout the summer period of June, July, and August.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have:

• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that Kriminalvården deems relevant
• Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Please note that internships and volunteer work are not classified as employment
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills

It is an advantage if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management
• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work
• Driver's license (B)
• Relevant language skills

OTHER

Kriminalvården has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions relevant to the position. The answers to the selection questions and CV will determine if you are qualified to proceed in the process.

Some positions are classified in a security class, and a security review with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
