About the position

We are looking for someone who enjoys a role where leadership, technology, and practical work meet. As the operations manager in the Orust parish, you will be responsible for the daily operations of our properties and cemeteries. You will lead and coordinate the work of the caretakers and work closely with both colleagues and elected representatives.

The position involves broad responsibility where you combine planning and follow-up with a good understanding of the practical everyday life of the organization. You create structure, distribute and follow up on work, while also participating in practical work as needed.

Job responsibilities

Your role includes, among other things:

  • leading caretakers and following burial laws and safety regulations
  • being responsible for and planning the operation and maintenance of the parish's properties and facilities
  • coordinating contacts with craftsmen and suppliers
  • being the contact person, together with the property manager, in matters concerning properties and cemeteries towards the organization and elected representatives

Together with the Property and Cemetery Manager, you will also:

  • plan, lead, and follow up on the work within the cemetery and property operations
  • contribute to long-term planning of maintenance and investments where many of our buildings are of cultural historical significance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • relevant higher education, such as in property management, construction technology, operational technology, or landscape management, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • alternatively equivalent knowledge through work experience

Since the position involves personnel responsibility, it is important that you have:

  • experience in leading or coordinating staff
  • the ability to plan and distribute work
  • the ability to create structure and follow up on operations

Technical and practical skills

Since the parish is responsible for many properties and cemeteries, you need to have:

  • a good technical understanding of property operations
  • practical professional skills in areas such as
  • plumbing
  • electricity
  • construction or carpentry
  • land and construction work

Experience in the operation and maintenance of properties, machinery, or facilities is an advantage.

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is:

  • technically interested and practically oriented
  • responsible and proactive
  • unpretentious and not afraid to get hands-on when needed
  • socially secure and communicative
  • someone who collaborates easily with both colleagues, contractors, and parishioners

You also have good organizational skills, can manage multiple processes simultaneously, and work in a structured and solution-oriented manner.

Other requirements

  • Driver's license B
  • good Swedish in speech and writing
  • experience working with computers and digital systems
  • a criminal record extract will be requested before employment

Meritorious

  • experience from public or church-related work
  • knowledge of occupational safety work
  • experience in project management or procurement
  • BE driver's license or other higher qualifications
  • certifications for tractor, chainsaw, brush cutter, lift, wheel loader, or similar machinery
