CleanSea is now looking for an operational team leader who will have overall responsibility for our cleanup work along the west coast.

This is a role for you who enjoys freedom under responsibility, clear goals, and making things happen in reality, not behind a desk.

What is CleanSea?

Every hour, large amounts of plastic wash up along the coast of Bohuslän. CleanSea works operationally to collect this plastic to protect Sweden's marine life and preserve the fantastic environment we have today.

So far, we have removed over 100 tons of marine plastic, and the operation is growing rapidly through support from individuals and collaborations with companies & organizations.

About the role

You will have primary responsibility for the cleanup operations on the west coast and lead a team of about five people.

The role is both leadership and operational, which means you will be out on cleanups while also planning, structuring, and following up on the work.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Planning and leading beach cleanups and cleanups.
  • Ensuring we meet our goals (kilos per month, cost-effectiveness, delivery according to agreements)
  • Responsible for staffing, scheduling, planning, and logistics.
  • Safety during cleanups.
  • Problem-solving when obstacles arise (weather, personnel, equipment, etc.)
  • Documenting the work through photos and short videos for the web and social media.

You will report monthly results against clear goals but work independently with freedom under responsibility.

The work takes place year-round. During the winter months, there is a bit more planning, but still a lot of work in the field.

Who we are looking for

We are not looking for a perfect CV; we are looking for the right person.

You are likely:

  • Responsible and self-driven.
  • Structured and good at planning.
  • Comfortable leading others in practical work.
  • Solution-oriented when things don’t go as planned.
  • Positive and contributes to a good atmosphere in the team.
  • Comfortable being seen in pictures/videos in work contexts.

Previous management or industry experience is not a requirement.

Engagement, reliability, and the right attitude are the most important.

Requirements

  • Strong presence in Bohuslän & Gothenburg, much work takes place along the coastline.
  • Driver's license B.

Meritorious

  • Experience working outdoors, fieldwork, or project management.
  • Familiarity with boats or coastal work.
  • Experience with simple photo/video documentation.
  • Ship officer class 8 (not required).
