Widegrens Gård engages in organic cultivation of carrots and onions among other crops. Since the cultivation is organic and thrives best when weeds are removed by hand, we hire a large group of summer workers to manage the cultivation. Primarily, young people work in weed removal, but adults also join us.

We have extensive experience in this field and continuously develop our routines to offer a safe and well-functioning start to working life! Perhaps you will be one of our stars this summer?

ABOUT YOU

Many have their very first summer job with us. Therefore, you do not need any experience as you will be trained on-site. What is required of you as an applicant?

To work with us, you must be born in 2012 or earlier (referring to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's legislation regarding work for children and young people).

We only work outdoors, so it is important that you enjoy being outside in all weather! You who are applying for a job with us must be able to reach ALL fields with your own vehicle or ride to the designated start time (taking the bus has proven to be ineffective in previous years). The fields we will work on are located in central Gotland, such as in Väskinde, Follingbo, Barlingbo, Atlingbo, Roma, Stenkumla, and Mästerby. You who are applying must have your own accommodation in Gotland.

JOB DUTIES & HOURS

As a weed remover, you help organic carrots and onions compete against weeds. You will be on specially designed machines that slowly move over the rows while you hand-pick weeds. Each machine is staffed by 5 people, one of whom controls the speed with pedals at their feet. There are also team leaders and field coaches responsible in the fields.

The work is part-time, and we mainly work weekdays, but weekends may also occur. Typically, work starts at 7:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, BUT other working hours may occur. The working hours will be in the schedule so you can plan accordingly.

The weed removal lasts about 1 month, from mid/late June to mid/late July. (For those not attending school, there may be an opportunity to work for a longer period.) On Widegrens Gård's Facebook and Instagram, there are pictures and videos showing how the job is done!

Salary according to collective agreement via Gröna Arbetsgivare/Livs. Recruitment is ongoing, so send your application as soon as possible and do not wait for the last date of application, as there is a risk that you will be too late.
