We are looking for a parish priest for Strömsund Parish

Strömsund Parish is a large rural parish consisting of seven congregations. We have 31 employees who take care of and support our parishioners and vacation visitors. We belong to the Diocese of Härnösand.

The congregations in Strömsund Parish value an inclusive and warm community. Here you will find mountains, lakes, and forests - an environment that engages and inspires the broad work of the congregations. We are a Sámi administrative municipality and are responsible for developing cooperation with Sámi associations and the municipality to preserve the cultural character of our parish.

The music life with several choirs combined with the mission of the Church of Sweden is important for our congregations and something we would like to see develop. Diaconal work is a significant and vital part of a rural parish. We have a good children's and confirmation work, as well as young leaders.

We are looking for someone who is secure in themselves, stable, and has good self-awareness. You motivate and engage employees by creating participation and direction with a leadership characterized by presence, active listening, and dialogue. You actively collaborate with elected representatives at various levels, where knowledge and respect for each other's missions and roles are a given. You familiarize yourself with the parishioners and take advantage of the unique characteristics of the different congregations. You are also responsible for encouraging and utilizing volunteers in the congregation/parish in a way that builds and develops parish life.

You see employees' skills and qualities as an important force in the parish's path forward. Through clear, consistent, and empathetic leadership, you lead the parish. This means you distinguish between governance and leadership and can lead, coordinate, and delegate to achieve common goals effectively, where cooperation with elected representatives is an important part of your mission. With clarity, drive, and perseverance, you continue the work with the parish's exciting and obvious development.

As a person, you are structured and can organize and prioritize work for the best of the organization in a larger perspective. Therefore, you need to be able to communicate clearly - ensuring and following up that messages reach and are understood by employees. You adhere to the Church Order.

As a parish priest, you lead all activities in the parish, based on your ordination vows.

You are deeply rooted in the faith, confession, and teaching of the Church of Sweden and have the ability for theological reflection and oversight of the parish's activities. As a spiritual leader, you can place the church's organization and administration in a theological context while actively nurturing and strengthening ecumenical relations.

Qualifications

• Ordained in the Church of Sweden and have completed the parish priest training.
• Several years of experience leading a larger congregation/parish, where indirect leadership and management of other leaders/staff is a natural part of the role, as well as leading management group work.
• Experience in working with finance, budgeting, and operational planning as well as personnel and employer issues.
• Experience with property and burial matters.
• Experience in working with visions, goal management, and follow-up in the congregation/parish and the ability to realize overarching theoretical goals into the parish's activities.
• Good knowledge of the church's regulations as well as labor law and working environment, including pastoral responsibility and basic frameworks for burial operations.
• Good digital competence.
• Driving license B.
