JOB DESCRIPTION
Do you want to lead our work in developing sustainable food production in aquaculture and the fishing industry in line with Sweden's food strategy? Are you interested in working with EU support?
The Aquaculture and Fishing Industry Unit is tasked with promoting and strengthening sustainable competitiveness for the sectors within aquaculture and professional fishing in line with the goals of the national food strategy. The tools for this include the measures and financial resources available within Sweden's marine, fisheries, and aquaculture programs, for which the unit is primarily responsible. In the coming years, the unit will work intensively on a reform of the EU policy that underpins the financial support for which the unit is responsible.
As a unit manager, you will operationally and strategically lead your unit of 13 employees. You are responsible for finances, personnel, working environment, and delivery on set goals while leveraging employees' skills, learning, and motivation. In this role, important tasks will be characterized by development, goal management, dialogue, and communication. You and your employees will have many collaborative interfaces with the industries, other authorities, the Government Offices, and the EU Commission. You will also have many important collaborations internally, not least with the department that handles EU support. The work requires a good ability to prioritize tasks and manage goal conflicts in dialogue with internal and external partners.
You are part of the management team of the Agriculture and Analysis Department along with the department head who leads the group, the deputy department head, and the unit managers for the other six units in the department. In close collaboration, you drive the department's development forward, with a particular focus on issues concerning the blue sectors.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a confident and stable leader who can navigate a complex industry where dialogues can sometimes be challenging. You stand firm even when opinions differ and support employees in a constructive manner. The role involves many points of contact both internally and externally, so you need to thrive in collaboration, build good relationships, and communicate clearly in various contexts.
You have a clear drive and take initiatives that move the organization forward. You are able to drive issues long-term while creating good conditions for your unit to develop and deliver results.
You have a university degree and several years of experience in a relevant field. You also have at least one year of experience leading others, including personnel and budget responsibility. You need to be able to express yourself in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience working with EU issues
- experience from work with aquaculture and/or fishing industry issues
- experience from working in public administration
- experience in business and industry development related to food production.

The place of employment is Jönköping with the possibility to work part of the time remotely.

The managerial position is currently a fixed-term appointment with a permanent employment basis. In 2026, the Swedish Board of Agriculture will conduct a review of the management of managerial appointments. This review may lead to you instead being permanently employed in the position as manager.
