The wildlife management unit consists of 13 employees and is responsible for issues related to hunting and wildlife according to hunting legislation. We work to promote sustainable use of wildlife as a resource through guidance, management plans, case handling, and regulatory work. The unit is part of the Department for Nature and Wildlife.

Your tasks

As a wildlife officer, you will have a broad and varied assignment. You will work with guidance, case handling, and regulatory work. You will participate in the work with management plans, government assignments, and collaboration with other authorities such as county administrative boards, as well as interest organizations and other actors in wildlife management. The work may involve international contacts as well as contact with the media. You will closely collaborate with colleagues internally but also drive your own tasks forward. Travel may occur both nationally and internationally.

Your qualifications

Requirements

• University or college education in biology, natural sciences, social sciences, wildlife management, or another relevant field, or other education deemed equivalent.

• At least two years of work experience in wildlife management.

• Experience in collaboration and communication in professional contexts.

• Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

• Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• B driver's license.

Meritorious

• Experience of working in a politically and legally governed authority, such as government assignments, wildlife management, or similar activities.

• Expertise in working with seals, cormorants, and other birds at the national and/or regional level.

• Experience in regulatory work and joint collaboration processes among authorities.

• Practical experience in hunting and other wildlife management.

• Knowledge of agriculture and forestry.

• Experience in handling media.

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who works in a structured manner, can prioritize, and drives work towards goals. You are responsive, confident in your role as a civil servant, and can represent the authority in a professional manner. You have an interest in hunting and wildlife issues, collaborate well with others, and can also work independently within given frameworks.

About the employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. The placement is at our office in Stockholm or Östersund. Travel may occur. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
