The position of traffic engineer/traffic planner is located in the community planning unit, which is part of the community building sector.

The sector handles issues related to community planning, construction and environment, emergency services, and safety.

In the community planning unit, there are 13 employees where you will work closely with other colleagues in the unit, such as urban planners, development engineers, traffic strategists, nature conservation coordinators, as well as cartography, measurement, and GIS.

Your future tasks

As a traffic engineer, you will be offered an exciting and varied job where you will gain a holistic perspective with the opportunity to influence broadly. You will have a responsible role where you work broadly rather than specialized. Your tasks include traffic regulation plans, permit management, and authority-related issues, as well as being involved in various types of strategic planning issues. The role of Traffic Engineer also includes being responsible for local traffic regulations, parking issues, safety and security in the public environment, and administering incoming cases and comments to assess potential needs for action both in the short and long term.

You will work together with colleagues in the municipality's operations, citizens, as well as authorities, contractors, consultants, and more. Since the job involves a lot of contact with the public and authorities, it requires you to be service-oriented and able to communicate in a trustworthy manner. Your tasks include preparing materials for political decisions and participating in the development of various types of investigations in the traffic area.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a university degree with a focus on traffic or other competencies and experiences that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Has documented experience in the field or parts of the field.
  • We see that you preferably have experience working within a politically governed organization.
  • Has a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing.
  • Good language skills in Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as good basic knowledge of English.
  • Is outgoing with a strong focus on service and is skilled at communicating both positive and negative messages in speech and writing.
  • Has the ability to quickly restructure and prioritize your tasks according to common goals when circumstances change.
  • Is positive, calm, and enjoys working both independently and in a group.
  • Is engaged, flexible, and cares about achieving good overall solutions.
  • Holds a valid driver's license (B).
