Food and Alcohol Permits

As part of Region Gotland, the Department of Technology and Community Building works with the citizens' living environment.

The unit for food and alcohol permits is responsible for the preparation and processing of cases mainly according to the Food Act and the Alcohol Act. In Gotland, there are a large number of food establishments, many of which are only open during the summer, so the unit needs to strengthen its workforce with an additional four to five food inspectors.

Your Responsibilities

As a food inspector at Region Gotland, your main task will be to control food businesses according to applicable legislation. This includes inspection/audit of food establishments, investigating complaints, providing advice and information to operators and the public.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has started or completed training as a food agronomist, nutritionist, environmental and health protection inspector, or other relevant education, or has work experience in the field.

We introduce and train our summer staff, but previous experience in control work within the food sector is an advantage.

To thrive and succeed in the role, it is important that you have the ability to see the whole picture and make objective, factual assessments. You should have good social skills and be attentive in your interactions with people, while curiosity and a genuine interest in others are important qualities. It is also crucial that you understand the importance of service in public administration and can meet others with respect in both a factual and empathetic manner.

To handle pressured situations, you need to be confident in yourself and able to remain calm. A structured work style and good skills in planning and prioritization are also important for success in the job. Furthermore, it is an advantage if you have the ability to make decisions independently and set demands when necessary. You should also be responsible and have a quality mindset in your work approach. A humble and solution-oriented attitude is essential, and you should enjoy collaborating to achieve common results.
