About Us
The Surgical Clinic operates a comprehensive business in surgery, urology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, and oncology.
We have two inpatient departments in Karlskrona and three outpatient clinics, one of which is in Karlshamn. We also operate in radiology and the emergency department in Karlskrona as well as in the operating rooms in Karlskrona and Karlshamn. Together, we are over 200 employees.
On ward 49, all surgical patients admitted via the emergency department are cared for. Here, patients with surgical diseases such as head injuries, pancreatitis, ileus, and kidney stones are treated. We also care for patients with diseases of the breast, thyroid, and blood vessels outside the heart and brain. Major traumas are also treated here. A large part of the operations is emergency admissions, and the rest is planned activities. Ward 49 was named Workplace of the Year in Region Blekinge in 2024, an award we are extremely proud and happy about.
On our ward, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, care assistants, medical secretaries, and kitchen staff work together. We also have close cooperation with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers.

About the Job
Working in a surgical inpatient department often means working at a fast pace and may require making quick decisions. You will gain broad competence and will meet patients pre- and postoperatively, patients with cancer, patients at the end of life, and trauma patients. Your duties include handling medications, central lines, gastric tubes, drains, wounds, stomas, and urinary catheters. This allows you to develop in your role as a nurse.
With us, you will have the opportunity to participate in a varied, developing, and very educational job. You will become part of a wonderful team that has great cohesion and good collaboration. We work with the patient's best interests in focus and have a high level of employee engagement in the department's development work. We also work long-term with competence development, and for more experienced nurses, there is an opportunity to further educate themselves as a specialist nurse in surgical care. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, nights, and weekends, and we use individual scheduling.
About You
We are looking for you who are a trained nurse. If you have experience working in a surgical department or have a specialist education in one of our areas, we see it as meritorious but not a requirement. It is of great importance to us that you have an empathetic approach and a good attitude based on good ethics, as patients, together with relatives, have the right to participate and receive information in decisions regarding their own care. Furthermore, you appreciate good collaboration among colleagues and have the ability to prioritize between tasks and maintain calm in situations that require it.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
