Are you a passionate machine operator with an interest in agriculture and teaching? We are looking for an Instructor/Machine Operator who wants to help develop our school farm and agricultural education at a school in development. Here you will have the opportunity to work in a fantastic environment, where you manage the daily tasks of the farm in combination with educating the next generation of farmers.

The Role of Instructor/Machine Operator

We are now seeking an instructor for machinery and crop production. As an instructor/machine operator on our farm, you are part of the agricultural work team and a key person in the education of our agricultural students. Related to the education, you are responsible for structure, planning, and implementation of practical training in working with agricultural machinery and usage. Your responsibilities include ensuring that we meet the curriculum and that students achieve their educational goals. Service and repair of agricultural machinery and animal stalls are part of your duties.

We place great value on offering as broad an education as possible, with the goal of using the latest technology in the school farm to provide students with the best possible knowledge. Teaching takes place both in the school’s farm environment and associated fields, but also in workshops, simulators, and practice areas at the school. The employment is valid from April 1 to September 30 and is a fixed-term seasonal employment with compensation per hour worked.

At Stora Segerstad, you will work in a beautiful environment alongside a dedicated and knowledgeable staff. Stora Segerstad is a historic agricultural school with Region Jönköping County as the main authority. Here, high school education is offered with a focus on forestry, agriculture, dogs, and machine mechanics. There is also an adapted high school with focuses on forestry, land, and animals. In addition to high school education, several adult and commissioned training programs are conducted in the field of green industries. We have approximately 200 students per year, and you will be part of our staff of about 80 employees.

You will work at a school where the school farm is a central part of the operation. Here, you will be part of a work team with 7 employees and a farm manager who is responsible for the school farm. You will meet engaged and dedicated colleagues who together strive to develop both teaching and agricultural operations. Our school is a place for innovation and development, where students have the opportunity to work with practical and reality-based tasks in combination with theoretical learning. The school has a broad and modern fleet of machinery that is continuously renewed.

Your Profile

We believe that you have a high school education in agriculture or as a machine operator, as well as experience in machine operation and common repair work. We see it as a positive if you have experience from cattle and sheep production and preferably experience from stable work. It is also advantageous if you have experience with different types of machinery such as excavators and wheel loaders. We prefer that you are technically interested and have experience in repair work.

To thrive in the role, we see that you have an interest in teaching and preferably have pedagogical experience, even if it is not a requirement. We see that you are fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written, have some computer skills, and hold a B driver's license. Additional qualifications such as a pesticide certificate and chainsaw license are advantageous. As a person, you are responsible, self-driven, and flexible, with a strong interest in imparting knowledge and working with youth. You are a clear communicator and enjoy collaborating in a team to achieve common goals. We are looking for someone who is structured and has a sense of order – you inspire those around you to create a well-organized working environment.
