Operations Manager for Ransäters Hembygdsgård
Hembygdsfören i RansäterVärmlands län, Munkfors
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to help develop one of Sweden's largest and most vibrant heritage farms? We are now looking for an operations manager who wants to manage and develop the cultural heritage in the heart of Värmland.
With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a unique cultural environment beautifully located by the banks of the Klarälven River, about six miles north of Karlstad, in Munkfors municipality. You will play a central role in an operation where culture, history, human encounters, and development go hand in hand.
About the organization
Ransäters Hembygdsgård is owned and operated by the local heritage association, which was founded in 1921 with the aim of preserving, caring for, and bringing to life the cultural heritage of the area, as well as contributing to its development. The operation has grown from originally encompassing three historical buildings to today being a comprehensive and vibrant cultural environment with nearly 60 buildings.
Throughout the year, a number of cultural events, performances, and activities are organized that attract visitors from both near and far. Among the most well-known features is the traditional folk play Värmlänningarna, which has been performed annually in the farm's amphitheater since 1954. The association's work is characterized by the ambition to strengthen knowledge about the local area, protect the cultural environment and landscape, and create meeting places where Swedish and Värmland culture can be experienced and developed. The operation also includes youth activities, study circles, and cultural creation, and actively contributes to the long-term development of the area.
In addition to the voluntary activities, business operations are also conducted through the farm's inn and cabin village, which means that the operation encompasses both non-profit association activities and commercial activities.
Description
As the operations manager, you are responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the operations at Ransäters Hembygdsgård. The assignment is broad and varied, involving both strategic and operational work.
You will lead the daily operations and have personnel responsibility for approximately 5–6 employees. You will plan, drive, and develop the farm's cultural activities and events, which include about ten larger events each year as well as additional activities such as weddings, rentals, and Christmas markets. The assignment also includes responsibility for the farm's inn, where orders, planning, and coordination of the operations are included.
In this role, you will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the farm's buildings and facilities, including a cabin village with 22 log cabins. The work involves making decisions ranging from planning renovation efforts to implementing cultural projects and events.
The position entails close collaboration with the association's board, volunteers, partners, and visitors. The role is varied and requires the ability to handle both operational issues and long-term development. The operation runs year-round, with a peak season from May to September.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with experience in leading operations, projects, or organizations who enjoys a role with significant responsibility and varied tasks. The role requires you to be able to switch between strategic issues, practical work, and ongoing operational management.
We would like you to have experience in:
- Cultural activities, tourism, or association life
- Personnel responsibility and leadership
- Union cooperation or negotiation
- Property management, maintenance, or practical work
- Business economics, budget work, or financial follow-up
As a person, you have the ability to work broadly and manage several parallel tasks. You are structured, solution-oriented, and have good judgment. The work involves many contacts, so it is important that you have good people skills and a natural ability to collaborate, communicate, and build trust.
You have a strong interest in culture and cultural heritage and are driven to develop operations. You are proactive, engaged, and practically oriented, and you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
We offer
We offer an independent and meaningful job where you will have significant responsibility and good opportunities to influence the development of the operation. You will work in a unique cultural-historical environment where tradition and future development meet, and where your work contributes to preserving and bringing to life an important cultural heritage.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with people, volunteers, and partners who all share a strong commitment to the operation. The position allows for creativity, initiative, and development work, while you will also be involved in creating experiences and events that are of great significance to both the local area and its visitors.
