About the Company
Region Stockholm has the overall responsibility to ensure that everyone living in or visiting the region has access to a well-developed, easily accessible, and reliable public transport system. The mission of the Traffic Administration (TF) is to prepare and implement decisions regarding the direction and scope for a long-term sustainable public transport system. Additionally, we are responsible for the management and monitoring of traffic operations as well as maintaining the functionality, safety, and value of the infrastructure. Every day, more than 700,000 people travel using public transport, including the subway, buses, commuter trains, and local trains.
About the Assignment
The assignment includes responsibility for the design, implementation, and management of signaling systems within the Tvärbanan. This includes the existing signaling system from Alstom on the Solna and Sickla branches, as well as the development and implementation of a simplified signaling system on the new Kista branch.
For the Kista branch, the Softprio signaling system is being introduced, developed by the Traffic Office in Gothenburg and licensed by the Traffic Administration Region Stockholm. The system manages tram priority at intersections, switch changes from the driver's cabin, and vehicle positioning to the traffic control center. The solution is also used or planned in Norrköping and Lund.
The assignment also includes complementary block signals, switch changes, safety solutions at level crossings, and installations both along the track and on board vehicles. The signaling project also supports the Djurgård Line and Spårväg Syd, where corresponding solutions will be applied.
The role of Assistant Project Manager for the Tvärbanan Signaling Project involves, together with the project manager, being responsible for:
- Ensuring the project is governed according to internal routines and established project methodology, as well as the laws and safety regulations applicable to signaling systems for trams.
- The project's deliveries and implementation in its entirety up to at least TG5 (handover receipt signed).
- Development and maintenance of an overarching WBS and timeline, as well as interfaces between sub-projects including commissioning.
- Ensuring (correct) resources and organization to drive the project.
- Overall coordination between sub-projects within the Signaling Project and parallel projects outside the Signaling Project.
- Monitoring and forecasting for the project (TKI).
- Compiling actions and recommendations for TKI deviations.
- Deciding on actions for TKI deviations within their project and mandate.
- Responsible for reporting to program management and sponsors.
- Driving the procurement process (initiate, establish, advertise, evaluate, award, etc.), which includes, among other things:– The project's procurement strategy including market analysis– In consultation with PC/sponsor, deciding on business choices (evaluation model/qualification requirements, etc.) related to each procurement– Preparation of tender documents– Market dialogues related to the project– Ensuring economic and legal reviews are conducted
- Ensuring content and quality in technical documents
Competence Requirements
- University degree or master's degree in a relevant field for the role. Relevant fields include Railway Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Technical Physics.
- Completed training in Swedish construction and civil engineering industry standard tools ABxx and ABTxx, as well as at least 1 documented experience leading the work to establish AMA, AMA-AF, ABxx and/or ABTxx.
- At least 5 years of documented experience as a project manager or sub-project manager in projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders, complex contracts, and at least one with a budget ≥ 10 million SEK and at least one project where the main customer/supplier is foreign.
- Approved result in project management training (minimum 32 hours).
Value-Added Requirements
- At least 2 years of documented experience in being responsible for and leading projects/sub-projects for the design, installation, and commissioning of signaling systems for trams and/or railways.
- At least 2 years of documented experience in being responsible for and leading projects with safety requirements within tram and/or railway signaling.
- At least 2 years of documented experience actively working with the development and/or implementation of the Softprio system.
- At least 2 years of documented experience in being responsible for and leading projects for installations on, or construction of, tram and/or railway vehicles.
Assignment Information
Assignment period: 18/5 2026 - 30/6 2028
Extension option: 1+1+1 year
Scope: 75%
Location: Stockholm, The work is expected to be performed on-site at the Traffic Administration's offices in Stockholm as well as at the program's establishment office in Sundbyberg.
