About the Workplace

Sala Municipality has a consolidated organization for all meal services within preschools, schools, and elderly care. A conscious investment has been made in expanding cooking kitchens to provide guests with as freshly prepared meals as possible. Currently, the unit consists of 21 kitchens, all of which are cooking kitchens. The meal unit employs 55 permanent chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants. The staff includes two unit managers, coordinators, and pool staff. The operations manager is also responsible for the staff as well as the three kitchens in elderly care and the meal process.

The staff is centrally located in Sala while the kitchens are geographically spread throughout the municipality. The operation consists of both large kitchens and small one-person kitchens.

We aim to provide our guests with a good and nutritious meal in a fresh and suitable environment. We strive to prepare food as close to the guest as possible, without unnecessary additives. Our menus should be varied, sustainable, nutritionally calculated, and tailored to our guests' wishes. Emphasis should be placed on form, color, aroma, and, not least, taste.

Job Responsibilities

As the operations manager, you build good relationships and collaborate with the municipality's other offices that serve as clients. You implement political decisions and steer towards economic and qualitative goals.

You have overall responsibility for the work environment and represent the operation in collaboration with the union representatives.

You develop the operation to meet upcoming needs, enhance civil preparedness, and address demographic changes in society.

Qualifications

As a person, you are attentive and pedagogical. You are driven and results-oriented with a good ability to collaborate on complex issues. You are confident in your leadership and create participation and engagement among your employees. To succeed in the role, you have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing and are a good communicator. You are skilled at maintaining, coordinating, and developing trusting relationships and collaborations in close cooperation, both within your organization and with external actors.

You have experience working as a manager, preferably within a politically governed organization. Experience in meal services within elderly care is an advantage.

You have a relevant university education in nutrition, for example, as a nutritionist or dietitian, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

A driving license (B) is required.

Employment Conditions

Permanent employment, 100%. Start date by agreement. Individual salary setting.
