JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to be part of developing and creating a library that engages, inspires, and contributes to lifelong learning? We are now looking for a driven and service-oriented librarian who wants to be part of our team and develop library services together with us. Ragundabiblioteken consists of three units in Hammarstrand, Stugun, and Bispgården. The units work locally in their areas but are part of and collaborate within the organization, led by the municipal library manager. The position is divided into two parts, 50% public librarian and 50% school librarian.

Public Librarian:

The position is based at and originates from Hammarstrand library, but work at the other libraries in the municipality may occur as needed. You will work to meet visitors of all ages, support their information needs, and contribute to making the library an open and welcoming place.

• Reading promotion activities and programs for children, youth, and adults
• Media management, purchasing, and literature dissemination
• Reference work and guidance in information retrieval and digital services
• Planning and implementation of events, exhibitions, and collaborations
• Development of library services and operations in dialogue with visitors and colleagues

School Librarian:

The position is based at Hammarstrand library and is responsible for school library operations at two schools and an after-school program in Hammarstrand, as well as at the after-school program in Bispgården. Together with public librarians, school librarians, educators, and school management, you will be part of a network for collegial learning. You will be employed as part of the development department where the public library is included but will also be part of working groups at each school.

• Building and developing the school library as a learning environment that is socially, pedagogically, and physically accessible to all students regardless of needs and conditions
• Development of the school library's operations in dialogue with students, educators, school management, and librarians
• Reading promotion activities and programs for students in grades F-9 to strengthen their reading enthusiasm and reading ability
• Planning, teaching, and guidance to develop students' media and information literacy and digital competence.
• Media management, purchasing, and literature dissemination

You take initiative and responsibility for moving work forward whether you work alone or with others. You contribute new ideas and perspectives and often see more than one possible solution in different situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science. You have good communication skills and a genuine interest in people. You are used to working in a reading-promoting and inclusive manner with all ages and have good digital competence and an interest in new working methods.

You have insight into and want to work with and develop the role of libraries in a democratic society. You have a strong commitment to children and youth and their learning and a strong ambition to translate research and in-depth subject knowledge into well-functioning school library practice. You also have good knowledge of media and information literacy (MIL). It is an advantage if you have experience in program activities and outreach work.

Since the work involves travel between different units, you need to have a driver's license and a criminal record check must be presented before employment.
