Do you want to be part of our team and be a part of an important and valuable security for the citizens of Sorsele municipality?

The rescue service in Sorsele municipality consists of stations in Sorsele, Ammarnäs, and rescue posts in Gargnäs. In Sorsele, we have 5 on standby divided into 4 groups. In Ammarnäs, we have 2 in four groups. In Gargnäs, there are 10 people in the post.

We have about 2,500 residents in our area of operation. The rescue service in Sorsele is part of a collaboration with 10 inland municipalities known as RSR10.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who, alongside your regular job, want to make an important contribution to society. Being a part-time firefighter means that you have a main employment with an employer and are a firefighter part-time. With us, you will primarily be part of a pool and go on standby in case of absence and eventually be on standby every fourth week. The assignment also includes participating in exercises and training organized by us, which are mainly scheduled for the evening.

Employment includes 2 weeks of basic training for which compensation is provided according to agreement. This is followed by additional advanced training. During the training you need to undergo, you will receive a salary. These trainings can be both local at the rescue service and within the framework of MSB's central training system to achieve the right competence. Therefore, it is important that your main employer is informed that there is a need for further training.

Your Qualities

The work may involve shifts with a high pace and demanding work effort, which is why we are looking for someone who is confident in themselves and is a good team player. You have a positive attitude and value openness, respect, and responsibility. You are mentally strong, stable, resilient, humble, reliable, and in good physical condition. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Competence and Qualifications

  • Residence and workplace within response time limit (7 min)
  • Main employer must approve employment as a part-time firefighter
  • Meet the physical requirements set by tests and medical examinations
  • Be able to complete an approved treadmill test (offered by the rescue service)
  • Swim proficiently
  • Class B driver's license
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language

It is an advantage if you have any form of fire training, a Class C driver's license for heavy trucks, or previous work within the rescue service.

Employment Conditions

Part-time. Permanent employment, start date: Ongoing recruitment.

Salary according to RIB agreement.

Other Information

Those who are hired and do not have a Class C driver's license will be offered a temporary employment for 9 months during which they have the opportunity to obtain their Class C driver's license. Costs for the Class C driver's license will be partially covered by the Rescue Service.

Employment starts in a pool, after training and as needed, you will then join a group.

Part-time, standby duty every fourth week.
