Senior Park Worker at Bromma District Administration

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Bromma District Administration offers you a workplace where your contributions can truly make a difference and contribute to the public good in a growing district. Here, active employee participation and clear leadership are the foundation for a developing operation.

Welcome to us

Do you want to be part of starting a completely new organization focused on creating a sustainable and attractive urban environment in Bromma? Now that we are transitioning to the operation of parks and green areas in our district, we are looking for you who want to join us on this journey as a senior park worker.

Bromma district is facing an exciting transformation journey as we prepare to take over waste management and maintenance of parks and green areas in municipal management. About 82,000 residents live here.

You will be part of the new unit for the operation of parks and green areas, which, together with the project organization, is part of the urban environment area. The unit will consist of a team leader and a team of park workers led by a unit manager. The group will be based in a shared operational facility with other colleagues from the urban environment area.

We have high ambitions to develop the district's public outdoor environments and look forward to having you on this journey! Warm welcome with your application!

We offer

Bromma has three nature reserves and over 500 hectares of natural land. We currently manage three nature reserves, Kyrksjölötens Nature Reserve, Judarns Nature Reserve, and part of Grimsta Nature Reserve, as well as around 80 playgrounds and three beach baths.

For us, it is important to have fun at work! You will be part of an engaged work group focused on the residents of Bromma. Our operations are characterized by collaboration, courage, empathy, and respectful interaction. You will be offered good employment benefits such as professional development, wellness grants, and vacation exchange. Please read more about our benefits and working in Stockholm City here.

Your role

As a senior park worker, you contribute to creating a safe, well-maintained, and pleasant environment for Bromma's residents with the goal of working long-term, sustainably, and circularly. Together with the other fifteen park workers in the unit, you form the park group and have daily dialogue with the area’s team leader. During the summer season, the unit will be reinforced with seasonal and temporary workers. Your role will be to lead the work in the field and, with your experience and skills, inspire your colleagues to do their utmost every day for the external environment in Bromma and Stockholm's citizens.

The unit for the operation of parks and green areas is an organization under construction. Park operations in-house will start in the spring of 2026 after being contracted out for over twenty years. Here you have an opportunity to influence the development of the new unit by contributing your knowledge and experience. Together, the unit will focus on developing effective and climate-smart working methods and sustainable operations that provide value for the residents and the environment in Bromma.

Your tasks will vary throughout the year and will include:

  • Work leadership and coordination in the field
  • Assist management in planning and distributing work
  • Contribute knowledge and guidance
  • Maintenance of green areas such as weeding, mowing, and cleaning
  • Pruning of trees and shrubs
  • Planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and more
  • Inspection and supervision of playgrounds, dog parks, outdoor gyms
  • Nature conservation
  • Maintenance and repair of park and playground equipment
  • Identification of improvement suggestions related to plants and green areas in the operational area
  • Winter road maintenance including on-call responsibility during winter preparedness
  • Maintenance and minor repairs of machinery

Since a large part of the work is outdoors, it is important that you enjoy working outside regardless of the weather. Both the role and the unit are new and under development, which means you may perform all tasks related to park and nature maintenance, waste management, and winter road maintenance. You will have scheduled working hours, and weekend work may occur in connection with holidays and during peak season. Winter preparedness is included in the position.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed upper secondary education
  • Documented and current experience in green area maintenance for at least 5 seasons
  • Documented experience in work leadership within green area maintenance or equivalent as assessed relevant by the employer for the position
  • Experience in winter road maintenance, at least 3 years
  • Driver's license B
  • Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Upper secondary education in vehicles, land, garden construction at upper secondary, YH education, or other education assessed relevant by the employer for the position
  • Experience and knowledge of nature conservation maintenance
  • Training certificate for wheel loader
  • Knowledge of service and maintenance of handheld park machines
  • Experience and authorization for using chainsaws and brush cutters
  • Work on the road
  • B96 driver’s license
  • BE driver’s license
  • Good IT skills

As a senior park worker, you meet Bromma's residents daily and are the face of the district. Therefore, good service and a friendly demeanor are a given for you, and you are driven to create pleasant and well-maintained outdoor environments. You are persistent and work independently and enjoy working outdoors in all seasons. You thrive in teamwork with colleagues and have the ability to easily adapt to changing tasks and priorities.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the position!
