The City Planning Office is one of eight administrations within Sundsvall Municipality, where we together create conditions for attractive and growing living environments with a focus on the future and a glance in the rearview mirror. The administration plays an important role in increasing the municipality's development and attractiveness. The Parks section of the Streets and Parks Department is a vital part of this. Through the maintenance and management of Sundsvall Municipality's parks and natural areas, playgrounds, you contribute to creating good living environments for both people and nature. The section is also responsible for the development of green and recreational environments in the municipality. We have 14 permanent employees in the section, and during the summer season, the workforce grows as seasonal employees and summer workers join in addition to the permanent staff.

Your contribution as a seasonal park worker

As a seasonal park worker, you will have a main area of work but will also get to try various tasks. In your work, you are expected to maintain contact with the coordinator for the park team you are part of, your immediate supervisor, and the team you belong to. For residents and visitors in the municipality, you are the face of the organization.

The work includes the maintenance of the municipality's parks, playgrounds, fountains, and equipment. This means you will work with several of the following tasks:

• Weeding and maintenance of plantings
• Hedge trimming
• Cleaning and sanitation
• Planting
• Pruning
• Maintenance of fountains and park equipment
• Watering and care of summer flowers
• Grass clearing
• Hand mowing
• Mowing with a large riding mower
• Mowing with a remote-controlled mower
• And other common park work

As a seasonal employee, you may also be able to mentor school youth.

We will hire employees who work during two different periods. The first period runs from April 13 to September 27, and the second period runs from April 27 to October 11.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has completed high school education and can read, understand, and speak Swedish, as we communicate with both citizens and colleagues in our daily work. You handle digital tools and apps on your mobile with ease, and a B driver's license is a requirement.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Education in the green sector, such as agricultural high school, landscape architect, landscape engineer, horticultural technician, gardener, or similar
• Experience as a ground worker in arborist work and climbing and rope experience
• Experience in park and garden work
• Experience in the agricultural sector
• Genuine experience and knowledge of plants, park, and garden work
• Familiarity with gardening machinery
• Brush cutter certification RA
• Chainsaw certification AB
• Tractor license
• Ability to read maps

We are looking for employees who are self-driven, flexible, and resilient, with good teamwork skills and a strong service orientation.
