JENSEN School Steninge is Hiring a Head Chef!

In autumn 2026, JENSEN will open a new primary school for grades F-9 in Steninge, Sigtuna Municipality. The school has already generated significant interest and has nearly 500 students on the waiting list.

JENSEN School Steninge is being built in the picturesque area near Steninge Castle Village, and the architectural idea is for the school to blend into the historical environment as a beautiful and classic school. The school will have two parallel classes and will offer preschool up to grade nine. There will also be a dedicated sports hall, specialized classrooms, and a kitchen where students can be offered nutritious and delicious meals prepared on-site by a head chef. We serve meals according to the JENSEN Kitchen concept, which focuses on healthy and sustainable food for an active and learning life.

We are now looking for a driven head chef who wants to lead the work in our new school kitchen!

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone with a passionate interest in good, varied, and healthy food from scratch. You want to provide children and students with new taste experiences and a sense that food is both fun and delicious, playing an important role in our health!

The work in the kitchen is both independent and social. You will be involved in cooking as well as engaging with students in the dining hall to discuss food! You are an important person both for the kitchen in Steninge and a vital part of JENSEN Kitchen. As a leader, you are clear, creative, and solution-focused. You are responsible and have an easy time communicating with both children and adults. Previous experience leading a large kitchen is an advantage. You actively work to reduce food waste and develop JENSEN's school meals.

We seek an ambitious head chef with strong leadership skills and a positive approach to managing the team. Your background should include at least a 3-year vocational education in the food program / chef training with a minimum of five years of experience in the profession. In your role as head chef, you will drive your team forward, manage orders, and ensure that guidelines within the operational area are followed. You are responsible for ensuring that self-control and HACCP processes are managed according to laws and regulations.

You should have knowledge of special diets, safe food handling, and the requirements of the school law regarding nutritious food. You will create a developing and sustainable work environment in the kitchen within set frameworks.

You need to have a good overall understanding and see good service to diners as a given. We expect you to interact with colleagues and diners in a pleasant and professional manner. Personal suitability will be of great importance. You should also have good computer skills to use internal documents in daily work and to approve your employees' salaries and financial follow-ups, etc.

What We Offer

As a head chef with us, you will have a free and independent role within our frameworks, writing menus together with our other head chefs based on existing guidelines. You and your team will prepare lunch and snacks and manage the kitchen. We offer work clothes and wellness benefits.

Employment Type

This is a full-time position and is a permanent employment with an initial 6-month probation period. Placement at JENSEN School Kitchen Steninge. Start date according to agreement.
