Wastewater

Do you want to be part of developing the wastewater treatment plants of the future? Do you want to work in an organization where technology, projects, and societal benefit meet? With us, you will play a key role in the development of future wastewater treatment plants. We are now looking for a project engineer for the Wastewater Department – a role with significant responsibility, varied tasks, and the opportunity to influence both today's and tomorrow's solutions.

About the position

The Wastewater Department is responsible for the operation, management, and maintenance of ten treatment plants and 129 pumping stations within Uppsala Municipality. Each year, approximately 22 million cubic meters of water are treated in our wastewater treatment plants.

Currently, the program directive KV 2.0 is underway for the renovation and expansion of Kungsängsverket in Uppsala, one of Sweden's largest treatment plants. The program includes seven projects of varying sizes, divided into three phases to be carried out during the period 2025–2035. In the future, there are also several larger reinvestment and new investment projects planned within the wastewater area. In this role, you will contribute to developing and creating the resource-efficient treatment plants of the future.

As a project engineer, you are an important link between development, process, and operations, ensuring that ideas and investigations are put into practice. The tasks are varied and may include:

  • Planning, managing, and driving process and smaller investment projects
  • Ensuring that the program owner's needs are met in larger investment programs
  • Coordinating various functions to create progress
  • Preparing decision-making documents, such as project directives, calculations, and procurement documents
  • Establishing governing and supporting documents
  • Assisting with practical tasks, such as installations, troubleshooting, and optimization work

You will work in the Process and Development section, which currently consists of 12 employees: process engineers, investigation engineers, project engineers, as well as SCADA/IT and instrumentation technicians. You report to the section manager for Process and Development and will be based at Kungsängsverket. You will be part of a competent and supportive team where it is easy to thrive and develop. There is an opportunity for remote work when the job allows.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and want you to share our common core values, “we are attentive, forward-thinking, and curious,” and apply them in your professional role. To thrive in this role, we believe you are structured with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work and handle the unexpected in a good and efficient manner.
