Operational Safety Officer at the Swedish Armed Forces
Do you want to contribute to a safe, sustainable, and law-abiding operation in a socially important organization? With us, you will play a vital role working closely with management and leaders to develop and support systematic operational safety work in a complex and technologically advanced environment.
About the unit and the position
FMTIS has four operational units (GE) in Sweden that maintain the Armed Forces' command systems within IT and telecommunications. The position is located at GE West. The unit works with the maintenance of the Armed Forces' telecommunications network, electrical/mechanical systems, radio, sensor, and surveillance systems, as well as installation, operation, and maintenance of various IT systems.
Operational safety within the Armed Forces is a collective term for the work to prevent accidents, incidents, and injuries – for both personnel and equipment. As an operational safety officer, you will work closely with management in areas such as workplace safety, external environment, and fire safety. Work related to electrical safety and BVKF (flammable goods and chemical compounds) occurs to a limited extent, where the main responsibility lies with another specialist function. In this role, you primarily contribute by supporting these areas from a workplace safety and coordination perspective, rather than being responsible for the technical or operational aspects yourself. The role involves driving development work, coordinating and following up on efforts, and preparing decision-making materials for higher management. You will also have an important function as a quality coordinator, focusing on deviation management and follow-up – often related to workplace safety issues.
You will be part of the GE West staff, which consists of about ten employees geographically spread across the unit's area, mainly civilian employees. The staff provides support to the unit manager in areas such as personnel, security, planning, and administration.
Main responsibilities
- Provide qualified management support in operational safety, such as workplace safety, external environment, and fire safety
- Support managers in conducting risk assessments and operational safety analyses
- Follow up and maintain routines, guidelines, and governing documents
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to training and competence development in the area
- Other administrative tasks within the staff
The position involves travel within the unit's area, as the operations are geographically spread across the military region west.
