The Ethical Review Authority is looking for a Scientific Coordinator

The Ethical Review Authority is seeking a scientific coordinator who wants to take a central role in the authority's work for a robust ethical review of high quality. Responsibilities

The role involves coordinating and contributing to the development of quality and consistency in the departments' reviews at an overarching level. This means that you develop and work with structured methods to carry out the coordination and continuously identify development opportunities. You will concretely advance these in close collaboration with others in the organization. You will also prepare and anchor knowledge bases and governing documents in the area and assist the departments with advice on research ethics issues. At the secretariat, you contribute scientific expertise in, for example, consultation responses and in dialogue with the research community.

You are an important representative of the authority externally. Therefore, the role includes external communication where you represent the authority at conferences and in lecture contexts. You will also conduct training and conferences.

Your role is central to the strategic development of the organization, and you are part of the authority's management group.

The work is strategic and qualified, with a high degree of independent assessments and initiatives. At the same time, it is concrete; you create progress and have a great opportunity to influence.

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for someone who has/is

• PhD in medicine and health sciences
• Licensed physician
• Extensive experience in conducting research and leading own research projects
• Personal experience and deep knowledge of ethical review/research ethics
• Very good knowledge of fundamental research ethical principles, good research practice, and the legal regulations and international frameworks applicable to research
• Very good knowledge of structures and conditions for research at a research principal
• Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

As a person, you have

• Experience working independently with a good ability to plan and prioritize tasks
• Good ability to create good relationships and collaborate in a responsive and smooth manner, as well as a very good ability to cooperate with other professions
• Very pedagogical and good communication skills
• Good ability for solution-oriented work and a strong sense of responsibility
• Personal experience in implementing change and development leadership and leading others

Brief Background

The Ethical Review Authority was established on January 1, 2019, with the task of ethically reviewing certain research. The review is conducted by 21 departments with about 500 members distributed across 6 locations. Each department consists of 10 scientific members and 5 representatives of the public, led by a chairperson who is a judge. The members are not employed by the authority but perform the work as assignments alongside their regular jobs.

The authority's secretariat consists of 28 employees who assist the departments. The authority is led by a director who is your immediate supervisor.
