Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
The Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases (ENT) diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions affecting the ears, nose, sinuses, oral cavity, upper airways, as well as hearing and balance. We are primarily a surgical department with both planned and acute operations. The surgery can range from simpler procedures to more extensive tumor surgery in the head and neck area. We also have an acute service in the form of an emergency clinic within ENT, which in the evenings, nights, and weekends is located in the ward and staffed by personnel from the department. At the emergency clinic, patients with infections in the head and neck area, nosebleeds, dizziness, and severe airway obstructions are received.
The department has 13 patient beds with only single rooms, and patients are divided into care teams staffed by nursing assistants and registered nurses. We care for both children and adults, and the length of stay varies from less than one day to several weeks.
Your Mission
As a part-time employed nurse at 85F1, you will be asked if you want and can work. This will happen both in the long and short term. You decide how many shifts you book, but you need to work continuously to stay updated.
The nursing needs of our patients are very varied, but there is a strong focus on highly specialized nursing where you can contribute with knowledge and engagement that makes people feel safe. Basic nursing includes pre- and postoperative care, and highly specialized nursing includes, for example, airway issues, bleeding from the nose and throat, and patients with tracheostomies. In a later stage, work at the emergency clinic may also be included.
One of the department's specialties is diseases of the upper airways, particularly the care of patients with tracheostomies. If you do not have experience with tracheostomy, you will receive training in it.
Introduction will take place with an experienced nurse.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained nurse, preferably with a few years of experience. If you have experience working with ear, nose, and throat, it is an advantage. As a person, you are stable, solution-oriented, secure, and empathetic. You are responsible, always have the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork. As a part-time employee, you should be flexible.
Your Competence
We offer part-time employment with a start date according to agreement. We are looking for people who can work at all hours of the day, so please write in your application what you wish to work, day/evening, only night, or rotation.
We Offer
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
You will receive an individualized introduction together with a mentor, the introduction is tailored to your prior knowledge so that you feel secure in your role with us.
