Seasonal Workers Wanted for Uppsala Cemeteries

Are you looking for a green job in beautiful outdoor environments?

Uppsala Cemeteries is currently seeking employees for seasonal work from May to October 2026.

The work involves the maintenance and care of cemeteries and is primarily conducted outdoors, in all types of weather. The tasks may be physically demanding at times.

In this role, it is important that you are service-oriented and have a respectful demeanor, as the work may involve interactions with visitors and mourners at the cemetery. You will mostly work in a team, which requires you to be cooperative, responsible, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Job Responsibilities

Your main tasks will be to maintain public areas and graves. This includes weeding, caring for lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers, and more.

You will be part of a work team at one of our cemeteries: Old Cemetery, Berthåga Cemetery, Vaksala Cemetery, Old Uppsala Cemetery, or Hammarby Cemetery.

About the Position

  • The position is a seasonal employment with a start date to be agreed upon.
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • As a seasonal employee, you will receive a monthly salary.
  • As a seasonal employee, you will be offered wellness benefits and wellness hours.

We provide work clothes.

We are looking for someone who

  • has some experience with gardening equipment and holds at least an AM driving license.
  • is meticulous and places great importance on quality in your work.
  • has teamwork skills, is responsible, and service-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

  • has education or experience in the green industry.

About Uppsala Cemeteries

The Church of Sweden has the state's assignment to manage the burial service. As part of the Church of Sweden, Uppsala Cemeteries is responsible for burial operations in the city of Uppsala. Here, people work in various professional roles, taking into account the task, environment, and cultural heritage to manage the city cemeteries, chapels, and Berthåga crematorium.

The cemeteries, with their green areas, are a valuable part of our shared living environment. As a seasonal worker, you contribute to ensuring that the cemeteries are well-maintained resting places and memorial sites for the deceased, a resource for visitors, and an important place for biodiversity.

The Church of Sweden Uppsala consists of the six urban parishes in cooperation and is also responsible for Uppsala Cemeteries. Five of the parishes formed the Uppsala parish in 2014 with a joint board and management. Together, we aim to be the local church for 180,000 residents of Uppsala.
