Work as a Chef in Eskilstuna Municipality

Now you have the chance to contribute to making the meals in Eskilstuna Municipality's public kitchens both flavorful and meaningful. Together with your colleagues, consisting of chefs and meal assistants, you will prepare and serve meals that are tasty, nutritious, and environmentally friendly.

Meal Service is part of the Service Administration and gathers all public kitchens into a common organization. The purpose is to streamline the meal operations and achieve a high and consistent quality throughout the municipality. The meal manager and nutrition manager, together with unit managers, are responsible for about 300 employees. Together, they run around 80 kitchens.

We are now looking for more chefs for our kitchens in preschools, schools, and elderly care. The positions are temporary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your tasks include preparing and cooking food in one of our kitchens. The food should be good, nutritious, inspiring, and healthy. In addition to cooking, you will handle serving, dishwashing, cleaning, and conducting self-monitoring of kitchen hygiene. Everyone in the workgroup has distributed responsibilities and rotates at different stations. We work with environmental awareness and always strive to reduce negative climate impact.

Working in a kitchen is physically demanding, which involves some heavy lifting. Work in a cold environment may occur as meal boxes at Rekarnegymnasiet are portioned and packed in the cold room.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has completed a high school education in the hotel and restaurant program or another education that we consider equivalent. You have knowledge of HACCP (product safety). As a chef, it is important that you have experience in preparing special and allergy diets. It is an advantage if you have experience with the dietary software Matilda. You need to have a good command of Swedish in both speech and writing to avoid misunderstandings regarding, for example, special diets, recipes, or interactions with guests.

We believe that you are a structured person who enjoys working at a fast pace. It is important that you can remain calm when things get busy. Collaboration is a key part, and you need to be good at listening to others, absorbing information, and being positive towards colleagues and guests.

The Service Administration coordinates, develops, and delivers qualitative support with a broad range of services to the municipal group's operations. What we deliver should be beneficial to the residents.
