The Child and Adolescent Center (BUC) Västerbotten is a regional clinic with approximately 400 employees responsible for specialized care in the region for children and adolescents aged 0-18 years. We operate in Umeå, Skellefteå, and Lycksele.

At Barn3, children and adolescents from the entire northern healthcare region are treated for oncological, hematological, and neurosurgical diseases. All primary diagnostics and decisions regarding further treatment are made here, but some cancer treatment occurs at the patients' home hospitals.

With us at Barn3, there is a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, administrative staff, and paramedical professionals. Research and development are important parts of our work. Many employees have academic qualifications, and the Child and Adolescent Center is a university hospital unit. It is important for us to be part of the ongoing development of pediatric oncology. Projects conducted at the clinic may be initiated by the Childhood Cancer Foundation, collaborative groups, or individual researchers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a junior doctor with us, you will contribute to pediatric oncology care in the northern region in a hands-on manner, thus being an important part of the team around the child with cancer and their family.

The work includes departmental and outpatient work in our pediatric oncology unit Barn 3, and there are no weekend or on-call duties involved. Responsibilities include departmental work with rounds, admissions and discharges of patients, as well as some outpatient visits. You will also have the opportunity to perform certain practical tasks and participate in challenging conversations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical degree with a passed course in pediatric medicine
  • Knowledge of the Swedish language equivalent to C1

To succeed in this role, you need to have good collaboration skills and ease in communication, as well as the ability to create and develop good relationships. Furthermore, you are structured, organized, and flexible, with a willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
