Registered Nurse for the Oncology Clinic's Day Care Department
Do you want the opportunity to create continuity, security, and participation for patients and their relatives? Then this position might be for you.
We have colleagues going on parental leave and are therefore looking for a new colleague for our team, so take the chance and apply today!
Job Responsibilities
In the day care department, cancer patients receive their treatment, where you as a nurse support them and their relatives throughout the treatment period. Since patients may have varying and different lengths of care contacts, it is important to create a secure care environment for both the patient and their relatives. You plan your own schedule while working in a team with other professionals.
The work consists of a mix of advanced medical technical and nursing tasks. You work with planned medical treatments for patients at different stages of their cancer disease, where you follow up on the effects and side effects of the treatments. From Monday to Friday, we have telephone counseling to address patients' questions during and after the treatment session. As a nurse, you inform and explain about medications, their effects, and side effects. It also includes administering chemotherapy and other antitumor drugs.
As a nurse, you build a secure and supportive relationship with the patient to create continuity and participation in the care contact. An important part of the care is to ensure information transfer and strengthen the patient's self-care. Cancer care is constantly evolving, with new treatment forms and medications for various tumor diseases being introduced, leading to increasingly curative treatments. Development is therefore a natural part of daily work to enhance our operations.
About the Workplace
At the Oncology Clinic's day care department, you will be part of a team consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors. Your colleagues form a stable core with many years of experience in their respective professions. You will work in an educational environment characterized by a pleasant work climate and freedom under responsibility.
We also have a PICC unit, where some of our nurses are trained to insert certain central venous catheters. The PICC unit primarily serves the Oncology Clinic's patients, but we also accept patients from other clinics and hospitals in the region. The clinical trial unit, which focuses on studies based on medications and enables patient participation in their treatment, is also part of the day care department.
We belong to the Oncology Clinic in Västerås and consist of a reception, radiation therapy department, inpatient department (ward 80), day care department, and rehabilitation unit for cancer rehabilitation. Approximately 130 employees work at the clinic. Our care is based on a holistic view of the individual, taking into account physical, psychological, social, and existential factors to tailor it to each patient.
For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job, so we offer you:
- A varied, developing, and meaningful job
- A workplace with a good working environment and strong teamwork
- Competent and engaged colleagues with opportunities to learn from each other
- An individually tailored introduction with access to a mentor who supports you during your training
- Professional development and further education in oncology or palliative care
- Free access to our fully equipped gym
- Wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year

We see that you are clear and have a pedagogical ability when conveying your message to others.
