About the Position
OpenArt is Örebro's recurring outdoor art exhibition in the heart of the city. As an exhibition technician, you will be part of the OpenArt team that builds, installs, and operates the exhibition for 2026. You will participate in artistic processes and produce artworks commissioned by artists from around the world. This requires that you are comfortable handling many different types of materials. You will primarily work with our lead technician, other technicians, two producers, and the artists themselves. As we get closer to OpenArt and the installation phase, the team will grow with more technicians and assistants, which may result in you supporting and guiding more junior staff. During the summer, you will be part of the technical team that performs operation and maintenance of both the temporary art in the OpenArt exhibition and the public permanent art.
Examples of Responsibilities:
- carry out tasks based on planning with a focus on building and installing artworks and objects
- conduct regular inspections of all exhibition sites; maintenance, operation, and upkeep of public art
- risk analysis and inspection for a good working environment, safe environments, and art handling
- individual and team work, as well as possible assignments to lead temporary staff
About the Workplace
The Art Unit has overall responsibility for Örebro Municipality's art assignments by exhibiting contemporary art at Örebro Art Hall, showing contemporary art in public spaces every other year through the OpenArt biennial, and managing the municipal art collection. We also project manage new artistic designs throughout the municipality through the one percent rule. The Art Unit operates within the area of Nature and Cultural Life on behalf of the Culture and Leisure Administration. As a technician for OpenArt, you will work from Örebro Art Hall in the Cultural Quarter and Stångjärnsgatan 6, on Holmen in Örebro.

Qualifications
You who are applying for the role of exhibition technician have a strong and genuine interest in contemporary art with the artist in focus, problem-solving, and producing exhibitions in public spaces with great inventiveness and playfulness. You are a humble, responsible, and proactive exhibition technician. You find it easy to collaborate and have a good ability to quickly switch between different types of tasks and assignments. To succeed in the role, you are a creative team player who, through attentiveness and a solution-focused approach, has the ability to independently and collaboratively bring projects to completion. You work efficiently and contribute to a good community within the team based on OpenArt's values. The position requires good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, to communicate with colleagues and others, as well as to document what the operations require.

Requirements:
- post-secondary education in a relevant field such as art/craft education or experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- experience using construction and craft machinery
- good material knowledge in artistic materials focusing on wood and metal
- good understanding of artistic processes
- B driver's license manual transmission
- good language skills in English, both spoken and written
- experience using Microsoft Office programs
Meritorious:
- good local knowledge of Örebro's city center
- other driver's licenses beyond B (e.g., truck)
- relevant training such as: lift certification, forklift certification, fall protection training, high-altitude training, scaffolding certification, hot work
- experience in artistic work
- experience working with art in public spaces
- experience in maintenance, repair, and production of artworks
