Transport Planner/Officer at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising incarcerated individuals. These are the clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who are moved between remand facilities and prisons, to court hearings, and hospitals, among others. TA also transports incarcerated individuals for agencies such as the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatric services. JOB DESCRIPTION

The planning operations in Arvidsjaur are organized into two workgroups, one for domestic and one for international transports. Within each workgroup, the transport planner is responsible for planning transports based on established requirements for security, efficiency, service level, and good resource management.

You will plan and coordinate transports using various modes of transportation to meet our partners in service level agreements. In the role of Transport Planner/Officer, you will have operational responsibility equivalent to the duty officer at remand and prison facilities. This requires you to have a good overall perspective, make well-founded decisions, and be confident in your decision-making.

An important part of your work is to continuously collaborate with planning groups as the work is conducted at a national level and to lead transport personnel who carry out transports nationally and internationally. The planning work consists of regular contact internally within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service but also with clients outside our organization such as the Police, the Migration Agency, the National Board of Institutional Care, and Sweden's municipalities and regions, which places high demands on building trust in the authority.

In your work, you will plan based on applicable legislation, regulations, and governing documents and have a cost responsibility that means you should manage state funds in your planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role of Officer is a service and quality assurance function that requires you to be meticulous, have the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with others within the section and unit, as well as with other actors inside and outside the authority. You work well with other people. You are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You make correct assessments and priorities and are self-driven. You adapt easily to changing circumstances. You take initiative, start activities, and achieve results.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A complete upper secondary education in the form of a diploma or equivalent education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems equivalent.

  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
  • Good knowledge of the English language in both spoken and written form, at least CEFR B2. A written test will be conducted during the interview, and parts of the interview will be conducted in English.
  • Good computer skills.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Proficiency in additional languages besides those mentioned above.
  • Logistics education or proven previous experience in logistics work at the planning or management level.
  • Experience in the aviation or travel industry at an administrative level or operationally at a higher level than clearance personnel.
