Job Description
Are you interested in environmental technology and water treatment? Do you want to kickstart your career at one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies?
We are currently looking for an engaged and junior Process Engineer for the Treatment Plant for our client AstraZeneca in Södertälje. Here you will have a unique opportunity to work in an operation that ensures that pharmaceutical manufacturing occurs with minimal environmental impact.
The treatment plant in Södertälje processes industrial wastewater from both Snäckviken and Gärtuna. As a process engineer with us, you play an important role in ensuring that operations, quality, and regulatory requirements are met through careful sampling and analysis.
The role is a combination of practical fieldwork, laboratory analyses, and administrative follow-up. Initially, the focus is on ensuring the stability of the process, but in the long run, there are good opportunities to grow into more complex investigations.
- Sampling & Analysis: Daily collection of water samples and performing chemical analyses (Nitrogen, TOC, Phosphorus, suspended solids).
- Process Monitoring: Microscopy to monitor the biological treatment process and follow-up on discharge conditions and limit values.
- Technical Maintenance: Care, ongoing maintenance, and troubleshooting of online instrumentation, including contact with external suppliers.
- Investigations: Laboratory work and report writing for the investigation of new streams to the treatment plant.
- Documentation: Administrative support in the form of result tracking and creation and updating of work instructions.
We are looking for someone at the beginning of their career who enjoys a role where theory meets practice.
- Education: Post-secondary technical education, preferably with a focus on water technology, water treatment, chemistry, or chemical engineering.
- Skills: Basic understanding of chemical and/or biological processes.
- Meritorious: Experience in laboratory work, microscopy, or work within the process industry is a significant plus.
- Personal qualities: You are curious, structured, and take great personal responsibility for your tasks. You enjoy working independently but also find it easy to collaborate with other engineers in the team.
Employment type: Consulting assignment through us at Randstad.
Assignment duration: Immediate start with an end date of 2026-11-30.
Location: Södertälje (Gärtuna/Snäckviken).
Good to know: Since the treatment plant's operations are not covered by GMP/GLP, there is no requirement for previous experience with these regulations.
