About the Position

Do you want to help promote dam safety in the country? Take the opportunity to work this summer in a developing and socially important organization. We are now looking for someone who wants to work with dams and dam safety at Svenska kraftnät.

Are you a driven and systematic person with an interest in hydraulic engineering and safety work? Now is your chance! One of Svenska kraftnäts tasks is to promote dam safety in the country. We do this by guiding county administrative boards and dam owners in dam safety issues, supporting the development of preparedness for dam failures, and contributing to research, development, and education in the field.

About the Position

Svenska kraftnät is looking for someone who wants to learn more about dams and dam safety work and contribute to the development in the country. You will belong to the unit for Electrical Preparedness and Dam Safety, which consists of about 15 people. The unit's overall mission is to lead Svenska kraftnäts work with dam safety and electrical preparedness.

The position is located at our headquarters in Sundbyberg. You will work with us for 6-7 weeks, divided into a few weeks at the beginning and a few weeks at the end of the summer.

Your Responsibilities

You will work alongside Svenska kraftnäts dam safety specialists. Your main tasks will be to:

Compile and analyze data (in Excel) from the reporting on dam safety that owners of the country's approximately 450 classified dams submit annually to the supervisory authority.
Prepare reports and presentations on the annual reporting.
Support colleagues in the ongoing work of producing publications, data compilation, maintaining lists, etc.

You will gain comprehensive knowledge about Swedish dams, dam owners' routines for dam safety work, and applicable regulations. You will exchange experiences with colleagues who have long been active in the industry and communicate with relevant stakeholders outside the organization.

Your Background

You are studying a master's program at a technical university with a focus on hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent. You are in your fourth year and have taken courses that provide fundamental knowledge in hydraulic engineering and dam technology.

You have good knowledge and experience in:

Analysis work in Excel.
Report writing.

We would like you to have an interest in dams and hydropower as well as experience working with pivot tables in Excel.

Personal Qualities

The work involves extensive data compilation and analysis. Therefore, you need to be meticulous and structured. You will prepare reports and have contacts with stakeholders outside the organization, which requires you to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You will work independently but also have contacts with colleagues, industry actors, and authorities, and should therefore enjoy both individual work and collaboration within the unit and exchange outside the organization.
