Head of the Controller Unit

Your placement is in the finance department, and as the head of the controller unit, you report directly to the CFO. The finance department is part of the governance and operational support area, which is responsible for the support provided by the Swedish Agency for Government Employers to management and other operational areas. The controller unit works closely with the government services area, which delivers many of the administrative services related to payroll and finance to our own operations.

The controller unit currently consists of nine employees. The unit operates both operationally and strategically within the entire finance area, e.g., the agency's operational planning and follow-up, accounting model and principles, annual reports, budget documentation, project finance, cost allocation models, as well as analyses and support for the operations.

Main Responsibilities

Your role includes driving the operational issues within the finance area, operational planning, and follow-up for the Swedish Agency for Government Employers, in close collaboration with the operations and supporting the CFO in driving the development of strategic issues.

You actively contribute to the agency's development and collaborate closely with the CFO. As a unit manager within the agency, you lead, plan, coordinate, and develop your unit. The focus is on leading employees through a trusting and close leadership style. You have personnel, budget, and result responsibility and are responsible for ensuring that your unit meets the set goals.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant academic degree in finance or equivalent education
  • Several years of managerial experience with personnel responsibility
  • Several years of experience in qualified financial work from government operations
  • Good knowledge of public administration, its decision-making processes, and understanding of the political structure within which the agency operates
  • Experience in change management and efficiency work in the area

Furthermore, you should possess the following abilities:

  • To drive work forward in a structured manner
  • To try new perspectives and ideas
  • To work goal- and result-oriented with a good ability to implement plans and create results
  • To create good conditions for your employees by engaging, providing feedback, and fostering participation
  • To build and maintain trusting collaborations internally and externally
  • To express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

Additionally, it is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience with the financial system Agresso
  • Experience in management group work at the central level

Other Information

The position is 100% and permanent. We usually apply a six-month probationary period. The position is located in Gävle. This position requires a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act. As an employee, you may also be assigned to military service based on the needs of total defense.
