Are you a meticulous, hands-on person who is curious about training others and has experience in the maritime profession?

Öckerö Maritime Center – ÖMC was established in 1997 with a single purpose: To educate to save lives at sea.

ÖMC is a non-profit organization, which means that all surplus goes back into the operation to develop the course offerings – not to provide returns to owners, which we are very proud of!

We are now looking for an assistant course coordinator for our operations.

Scope: Full-time, permanent – a 6-month probationary period applies.

Working hours: Mainly weekdays during the day, some weekends may occur, as well as some travel for work.

Start: As agreed.

The workplace is located by the sea in Öckerö, where we have our training facility. We also collaborate with Öckerö sailing high school (ÖSG).

Before possible employment, you must submit a criminal record extract for work in preschool/school. This is because you will occasionally be working with ÖSG's students.

Job responsibilities:

• Maintenance of all equipment related to survival/water; suits, classrooms, boats, etc.
• Manage logistics, order training materials, and similar at our training field for firefighting education.
• Handling and booking of repairs, ordering and picking up pyrotechnics, rafts, etc.
• Contact with shipyards for service and repair of boats.
• Be involved in course development and contact with our instructors.
• Instructor for the water components of our STCW courses.

Requirements:

• Flexible regarding working hours.
• Organized.
• Comfortable in water.
• Driving license B.
• Rescue runner training and/or a license for jet ski. (if you are the right person but lack this, we can agree that you will obtain it during employment).
• Basic technical ability to perform simple repairs and maintenance on our boats and training facility.
• Competent boat driver for boats up to 8 meters.

Meritorious:

• Previous instructor in courses on personal safety and survival as well as lifeboats, preferably FRB.
• Ship officer class VIII or higher.
• Training in handling fast vessels.
• Relevant, broad, and documented education and work experience from the maritime industry; you may have worked in the commercial fleet as well as in defense, coast guard, or similar.
• If you can hold first aid courses; CPR and first aid.
• Forklift license.
• Cran operator certificate for stationary remote-controlled crane.
• Skilled mechanic capable of handling major repairs on boats and facilities.
• Experienced instructor, e.g., diving instructor, boat instructor in the armed forces, or other similar pedagogical experience.
• Extended B driving license (B96) or BE.
• Experience with fast rescue boats with both propeller and waterjet.

Other information about the job:

You need to be a self-driven person who learns new tasks easily.

You are the person who ultimately ensures that equipment and training materials are ready for courses every day. Sometimes you will also hold courses yourself.

The work can be physically demanding at times, so you need to be in good physical shape.

In addition to STCW courses and material management, the work may involve being a leader at ÖMC's summer camp or other activities that fall within the scope of employment.

Your daily work is led and supported by the course coordinator for STCW courses, with the goal of becoming self-sufficient as soon as possible.
