The position is located in the Community Building Administration, which works with municipality-wide issues such as strategic and physical planning, regulatory enforcement in environmental and construction matters, as well as regional development. Here, there is also the overall responsibility for the municipality's technical supply in waste management, water and sewage, streets, roads, and parks. The administration works on behalf of the municipal executive board and the community building committee.
About the position
The Community Building Administration of Gnesta Municipality consists of five units: Waste Management, Street/Park, Building and Environment, Planning, and the Water and Sewage Unit. As an environmental engineer, you will belong to the Water and Sewage Unit organizationally, but collaboration extends across the entire administration, providing a dynamic and varied workday.
You will play an important role in the Water and Sewage Unit's mission with both internal and external contacts. You will work closely with supervisory authorities, contractors, and other partners, as well as collaborate closely with our operational staff and process engineer. Improvement processes and analytical work for our water and sewage plants are an important part of your tasks. The role also includes annual environmental reporting, environmental accounting, management of environmental permits, and updating of self-monitoring programs.
The municipality is in an exciting development phase, where you as an environmental engineer will help shape the future. We are about to build a completely new water treatment plant and plan a sewage treatment plant, the location of which is expected to be determined this year. In these projects, you will be an important team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As an environmental engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that the water and sewage operations comply with applicable legal requirements and permits. Your tasks include, among others:
- Sampling and reviewing analysis results.
- Preparing environmental reports and chemical management.
- Developing and updating self-monitoring programs.
- Working with water and sewage plans, water protection areas, and environmental code matters, as well as controlling excavated materials at interim storage sites.
- Handling referrals and environmental technical issues within both operations and projects.
You will have the opportunity to take a comprehensive approach to important issues and contribute to a sustainable and secure water and sewage supply for the municipality's residents.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- Solid experience in the environmental field.
- University degree in environmental science, engineering, or another relevant field.
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation.
- Driver's license (B).
- Experience with water and sewage issues.
Meritorious:
- Experience with municipal processes.
- Previous work with authorities or authority-related issues.
- Experience working with water and sewage issues.
