As a lathe operator

you will be part of a dedicated team in Valmet's Fiber Service Workshop, where the operations include washing, blasting, disassembly/assembly, welding, and machining. Here, you will have the opportunity to develop in a role with great variety and responsibility.

About the position

As a lathe operator, you will work with a five-axis X.Y.Z.C lathe, equipped with drives, rotating tools, angle heads, and Siemens 840D SL control system. With the support of EdgeCam, you will program and handle large and complex workpieces with high tolerance requirements. A crane is used for the movement of the workpieces.

Your tasks include:

• Material allocation and measurement of workpieces in the machine
• Performing independent measurements of details to ensure quality
• Establishing and filling in measurement protocols
• Performing basic operator maintenance

In this role, you will have significant responsibility for allocating, measuring, machining, and quality-checking the workpieces – always with a focus on accuracy and quality. Collaboration, communication, and understanding of material and product flows are crucial in this role. You will become an important part of a shift team of two to three people and work closely with other departments, production engineers, and the maintenance department.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has:

• Technical education / workshop training focused on machining or equivalent education or experience (green card).
• Basic knowledge of reading technical drawings
• Knowledge of CNC technology (preferably Siemens 840D)
• Worked with CNC, preferably turning, for at least 5 years
• Experience in turning heavy components
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Driver's license B and crane license

It is an advantage if you have experience with CAD/CAM and handling measuring tools. If you also have knowledge of English, it is a big plus.
