Green Space Management in Västerås City

The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.

Do you want to work outdoors in green spaces, with the flower program in the city's parks, or with green space management such as planting, pruning, and weeding? With us, you will help create pleasant and well-maintained environments in Västerås, from parks and playgrounds to schools, preschools, and special housing!

Your Tasks

You will have varied tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, pruning trees and shrubs, and supervising playgrounds. Your work is seasonal, and your tasks will be adapted to the season and weather conditions. The work is carried out both independently and in teams based on planning, with the opportunity to participate in the daily work setup.

Depending on your skills and interests, you will either belong to the Park Group, which works with park operations, or the Grounds Maintenance team, which works with special housing, elderly care, schools, and preschools.

We are part of the Production area, which is the city's operational business within maintenance, construction, and technical systems. In our maintenance unit, we are responsible for the care of part of the city's streets and parks, as well as external maintenance of municipal properties such as schools and preschools. Together, we are part of the Technical and Property Management.

Your Qualifications

You have a horticultural education focused on green space management or equivalent education that the employer deems appropriate, or corresponding work experience. You can express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written. It is a plus if you have training or a professional certificate in, for example, chainsaw operation or plant knowledge, and/or experience with machinery and small equipment within green space management. A B driver's license for manual transmission is a requirement.

You want a mobile job outdoors in all weather, and since the tasks vary by season, you are flexible and adapt to changes. It is important that you enjoy meeting people and that you contribute to positive interactions with sensitivity and engagement. You are self-sufficient and proactive in the field and contribute your own thoughts and ideas for the development of the operations. It is natural for you to be a team player who values good cooperation and understands that we are all different, but that we work towards common goals as a team!

Additional Information

In connection with the interview, you will need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document.
